Negative Initial Laser Position

Hello Folks,

Trying to find some assistance and guidance on how to set up home position properly. Once I turn on the OLM3 it travels into X:-600 and Y:-600.
I can’t figure out how set it up to 0.

I feel like this is something simple, but I am a fresh rookie and any help will be greatly appreciated.

Have you done anything to attempt this? If so, what have you done?

Normally this isn’t something you’d have to do anything to get done. 0,0 position is established after homing.

It seems you’re having an issue with homing based on the ALARM:9.

Can you describe what happens when you start your laser? Does it attempt to home? Is it successful? If not, what exactly happens.

Also, can you run these commands in Console and return the outputted results?

Hello,

Once I turn on the laser it goes to the -600 -600 spot automatically ( the laser makes quiet and slow pace skipping noise ). Once it reaches those coordinates the OLM3 starts to beep. I really didn’t mess with the parameters or anything like that. I just assembled it, tightened up the belts and once I turned it on. I drew a square on the work area pressed “frame” and the laser launched itself up on the Y axis until it hit the limit and started making loud noise.

I have the Auto home button turned off and I didn’t try to enter any commends in the console as I am not familiar with them. Literally spend a couple hours trying to see if I can find the option where it fixes the home position and gave up before I cause more damage and decided to reach out to the experienced community.

Thank you in advance for trying to help me.

Can you run these commands in Console window and return the outputted results?

In the console, type $22=43 and press enter. Then power off your laser and back on again.

The problem is that Ortur added a bunch of additional settings to the ‘homing enable’ setting ($22) on some of their firmware versions. When you disabled homing to use the rotary, then re-enabled it later, those extra settings weren’t applied because LightBurn has no idea they exist (and the GRBL spec says they aren’t supposed to be there).

Ortur has updated the firmware to move these extra settings to a different value, but you need to update the firmware to get that. Otherwise, just remember to set the $22 setting back to 43 after using the rotary.

Please do answer PY’s request for those reports and paste the results from your console window into a reply here. We’d like to see what the settings are.

RC25 is an early firmware.
You may wish to update to RC38.
You can download the new firmware here:
https://ortur.tech/firmware/OLM_Series/ESP_OLM3_205_RC38.zip
The firmware update technique is shown in this video.
