New tile engraving method

This thread is 10 months old… Might be wise to start a new thread with a question about settings.

I did most of my TiO2 marking with my fiber, so can’t help you much with these settings. Have you ever seen LBT100, Cermark and Brilliance laser inks? These are spray on coatings that mark, dark usually.

This is a good thread, but it’s very lengthy to get through.

That’s for sure.

I have a 20 watt diode but it’s not about the power and all about applying an even coat of the TiO2. I add it to a water based tempera paint used in schools diluted 1:1. I spray it with an air brush and a light coat side to side then top to bottom and repeat after 10 minutes. Then I let it dry in my toaster oven set to 100F warmer setting. Run a materials test and you’ll find the right setting for your setup. I did notice that too much is as bad as too little.

The beauty of the tempera is it rinses right off under the sink sprayer and the color gives a good indication of an even coat.

I tried your way and got the best image yet. The only thing I did deferent was to mix it with a milk frother for expresso. I also used a cheap Harbor Freight spray gun. Thanks, John

No specific preparation required. Works well on marble, same on tiles, 10wTs2
