I recently got a Ortur lasermaster 2 to engrave some cutting boards, but the unit doesn’t seem to have enough power to engrave on hardwood, even turned up to 100%. Is it possible to install a more powerful laser?
You should be able to at least blacken the surface. Check to make sure your laser is properly focused on the wood, and for that power I would recommend starting at 50 mm/sec. If that isn’t dark enough, reduce the speed.

What distance do you have set from the bottom of the laser heatshield to the material
as @LightBurn asked, did you do the process of focusing?
