Newbie trying to start / cant cut

Good afternoon, i just assembled my ortur laser pro 2, set up lightburn and draw a small test drawing; if i press frame the machine will correctly display the frame light on the position where the cut should be, but it wont cut!

I only see the light making the drawing path but no cut happens. How can i fix? Thank you very much!

If you can actually see the light then this is likely just an issue of cut settings. You’ll need to adjust the settings so that it’s appropriate for the material.

Double click the name of the layer on the Cuts / Layers window to see detailed settings.

In this case you’re likely either moving too quickly or have power settings too low.

I suggest you search this form for a power scale test and try running that.

Additionally, make sure you have good focus. As a beginner, you’ll be surprised how much of a difference focus makes.

and i will say also air assist most for wood cutting/engraving

Have you got a video you can recommend for focus setting? Thanks!

In the ortur box i found a pair of safety glass that im currently using; if you can suggest me a safer one i’ll buy it immediately! Thank you!

is your module a fixed focus? If so, Ortur gave you a spacer to focus. If not, you have to rotate focus wheel until you obtain the smallest dot you can.

yes it is, is the laser master pro 2, i already regulated the height with the spacer but i thought i had to do more regulations!

if is a fixed focus you don’t need more regulation, can you do a little video? upload it on youtube and post here the link please.

For a fixed focus system this is fine. You can further fine tune focus by confirming that the spacer is giving you the best possible focus either visually or by using a ramp test but the basic ffocus setup should be fine to start.

I believe for that particular model you need to set the focus height against the bottom of the heatsink, not the bottom of the lens. Is that what you are doing?
