No power supply error

Hello. Using Ortur Lm2 Pro. Was working fine for a few months and today I am getting the No power supply error. I replaced the power cord but still get the same error. It also does not respond when I have the USB plug disconnected.

Please let me know what else to try or whatever info you need to help troubleshoot. Thank you in advance

A ‘No power supply’ error message is pretty clear - it’s one of the best.

Please double-check your plug in, power brick and power connections to the Ortur. A power bar switch in the off position can also be a cause - and I only say that because I accidentally nudged mine more than once.

If anything seems loose or dangerous with the Ortur equipment please reach out to Ortur for service and replacement parts.

Not responding with the USB plug disconnected is expected behaviour.

Hi. Yep checked all connections and they seem fine. What do you mean by “power bar”?

I did send an email to Ortur. No response as of yet

Thanks for trying to help

I have one of those short extension cords with a power switch and 6 outlets fastened to the wall.
Is this an occasional error message or is it present whenever you attempt to work?

It’s never happened in 3 months until yesterday. Now I get the message each time I try to home/frame. I can’t even get lightburn to detect it

You’re not getting power to the laser. The reason you get a response from the controller when the USB is plugged in is because USB power is sufficient to communicate with the controller itself. However, it’s insufficient to provide power to steppers and laser module.

So somewhere between the mains power and your laser you’re not getting power. So check wall outlet, any extension cords or power bar, and the power supply for proper power. Somewhere along the way there’s likely to be a break in power availability. It’s also possible that the power input on the controller is bad but less likely.

This confused me with my LM3 when I first started “playing” with it.

The power from the USB is enough to allow for the system to power up, connect, and otherwise act “normal” except for any movement of the laser.

A simple test would be to disconnect the USB cable, then plug the power brick in. You should be able to start up the system and see all the lights. If it stays dark, check the power supply for voltage and general health.

i don’t want open a flame but…
i wanna ask just a thing…
when you press the power on button on the remote of your smart tv and the smart tv doesn’t turn on, in your opinion where is the issue? in the smart tv power supply or in the android software that doesn’t let the smart tv to turn on?
Here is the same thing i suppose, if you get a “no power supply” error and you are sure that the power brick and the power cord are well plugged into the wall and you still have no power to the machine, i think that the main suspect is the power brick broken. Happens sometimes that a toaster worked well yesterday and today will not turn on…

I get it, seems simple enough but here is what I’ve tried so far

Power strip is working (air assist is running off same strip)
I’ve replaced the power cord to the machine
Checked all connections many times
I have a red & blue solid light on Ortur but it does not react to anything (framing, homing, etc)

I definitely think it’s the input for the power cord. I can’t get power to the machine without the USB.

Are you referring to the actual power adapter? Or is this some other cord?

Do you have a meter that you can use to test the power adapter? It should be providing 24V for a LM2 Pro.
