Not able to update to V1.7.02 or V1.7.03

Good afternoon,

Let me start by saying I have been using LighBurn for years and absolutely love it.

While trying to install V1.7.02, I kept receiving error code 5: “Move File Failed: code 5, access denied” and it referenced C:/Program files/Lightburn/crypto5.dll.

I assumed it was an issue that LB would resolve with the next version.

I tried loading V1.7.03 when it came out, but the same error code presented itself but file being reference this time was C:/Program files/Lightburn/BslCal.dll. In each case it gave me the option of skipping the reference file but stated that it was not recommended.

I opened the task manager to ensure no other instances of LB were open to no avail. Next, I rebooted my PC, which also didn’t help.

In all the years I’ve been using LB I’ve never had any issues upgrading to the newest versions until now.

I’m running Windows 10 Pro.

Thank you in advance for you help.

Eric

Try the steps highlighted in this post please:

Hi Gil.

Sorry for the delays. work demands slowed me down.

had to download redistributables from a different website as I did not have permissions.

Still no luck.

Event Viewer logs. I didn’t see anything pointing to LightBurn.

Let me know what to try next. Will hopefully be able to continue tomorrow.

Best,

Eric

I got those same resist… recommendation’s from LB when I couldn’t update to 1.7.03. Didn’t get an error, it just didn’t open.
I solved it by uninstalling Lightburn from the control panel of windows. Everything worked after installing 1.7.03.

Don’t know if this makes a difference however I have a win11 laptop with a HDD. All their recent updates just killed my machine. So I copied everything into an SSD. Laptop is blazing fast (for it) now and I got the software to work after the speed up.

Dean suggestion.

ALthough easier to restart computer
C:\program files\Lightburn
Delete all contents
Install 1.7.03

This should help

Honestly, I afraid to delete my functioning copy as I noticed this same issue with another piece of software this afternoon. I think it has something to do with Windows, and of course I have no idea how to resolve.

Try right-click LightBurn 1.xxx.exe Run as Administrator.

I absolutely share your frustration. Windows PCs have been out for decades. Why do we still have to be computer nerds in order to get something to work?

I’m happy to say that the problem has been resolved. Not sure why, but my antivirus was blocking my ability to install. Never had this issue in the past, buty at least I now know how to resolve the issue.

Many thanks to each of you for your assistance.
