Not Burning All of Image

I just got the laser insalled tonight. On my first cut some of the the details didn’t fully burn.
The letters in officer being the main thing.

Could this be due to the glue that was used to glue the boards together?

That looks like the laser isn’t properly focused - those lines are very thick. The grain of the wood will affect how much power is absorbed, and it’s more likely to affect the burn if you’re out of focus.
