Omni X crystal engraving inside a sphere?

Did you ever receive the oil from commarker?

I did!

I will do some test over the weekend and post the results

I made the test with the compond sent by Commarker, and indeed it works.

after that I tried another sphere I had bought for testing, and to my surprise exactly NOTHING happened. So I tried to investigate and found a remarkable difference: shining a UV light on the ‘good’ sphere (received by Commarker) there is no visible effect (same with the square blocks I am using):

If I do the same to the sphere that cannot be engraved, I get a strong blue fluorescence:

This was bought from amazon trying to get some blanks for testing, and described as K9 crystal, but obviously there is something different…. anyone have any clue what is going on here? I bought 6 different sphere from amazon in different sizes, and ALL were ‘K9 crystal’ and ALL shows that kind of fluorescence under UV light… ALL of them shows no reaction if I try to laser engrave them. On the other hand, the ones received form ComMarker (I got 2) shows no fluorescence and are very easy to engrave, and ComMarker says they are K9 crystal, so I am confused: what to order to get the right material?

I have also tried to research on the net (chatGPT)
it says that K9 crystal is not supposed to show fluorescence, and blue fluorescence is typical of lead crystal BUT I did weight the spheres and the weight of the ‘bad’ sphere is the same as the ‘good’one, whereas lead crystal should be much more heavier, so I am now confused. I am in the process of placing an order for a hundred spheres and I am worried that I would get useless parts if the same ‘K9’ description is used for those obviously different materials… any glass expert to shed a light on this?

I’d hold off on that bulk order unless you can return them. Unless they state uv engravable I think it’s Commarker supplied for me and only doing that sparingly until the market gets more competitive.

These are interesting discoveries!

I’m not at all the glass expert you are looking for, but this is what Wikipedia says:

K9 crystal, is a variety of optical borosilicate crown glass. The letter “K” is a reference to the German word for “crown” (Krone) and the number 9 refers to the lead oxide content of the glass (9%).

Hi, What kind of oil did Commarker send or it’s a secret formula?
I also buy different crystal from same supplier and all are not same quality.
I have a UV laser.
The good crystal you cannot see the red ray in the crystal, only on the machine bed.
A not good one you see the ray in the crystal. Supplier said that they are same, but after will he say that some are for CO2 laser, so I don’t know.
But for sure only real K9 crystal can work with UV laser

Hi, How you close the bottom of the bottle?
What is the compond?
Thanks.

ComMarker sent it to me, I do not know what is inside

Here the liquid who can be used.
