Bare with me I have a lot to explain, I’m going to try an compress it down.
Bought my laser brand new about 1.5 years ago directly from OMTech model AF-6340-150W largest CO2 at the time. Took 2-3 weeks, received and installed it.
Boot up prefect, running on 5200 OMTech Chiller at 18-19*C.
Started testing the machines lowest firing setting.
10% nothing
11% nothing
12% nothing
13% nothing
14% nothing
15% nothing
16% nothing
17% nothing
18% nothing
19% something but nothing
20% working. Lowest firing setting on a brand new machine was 20%
Was on the phone with OMTech Support and emailing back and forth, sending images and videos, trying to get this fixed. They had me replace the bulb and the power supply. After 6 weeks of support they said they don’t know what was wrong. I was just upset and over it. They said it’s normal for it to run at 20% its within range.
At 20% fire I’m pushing 30Watts. I cant engrave wood, or acrylic without burning the hell out of it. If I increase the speed I lose detail, and it looks blurry.
Just 1.5 years later we are at 28% lowest firing setting. now Im pushing 43Watts, who can do a clean engrave like that? Also cutting 3/8" acrylic I have always had to run the machine at 65% that is 93Watts if not it will not cut it. Not even when it was new could I go any lower and the speed is set too 4-5mm/s.
I’m not sure what to do. Customers have always asked if i could engrave things, and I always have to turn them down. Cutting 1/2 plywood has to be at 85% power (127.5Watts) and 3mm/s and most of the time it wont cut through.
Can anyone shine some light on this for me.
Also the Tube and Power supply have been replaced, but nothing changed.
The machine is aligned.
The power supply doesn’t even fire till 27%
I think it’s the board, but they said they are sure it is not the board.
So im left with getting nowhere.
