Omtech k40 power supply issue

hello there, this is my first post so i hope im in the right place and following rules , i have omtech k40 and the tube died because of my stupidity and cold weather , so i got a new tube that 45-50w and a new power supply but they did not send me a myjg40. so the new supply has different connections and it does not have a 24v output either for the stepper , so its not gonna work without some alterations.

so the tube is installed and fires with the new supply using just the test button so thats ok , when testing with the old power supply it fires a little and screams like a cat also turns off my pc monitor! although the old supply(myjg40w) was working fine with the old tube, so i guess it doesn’t have the capacity to run new tube or its half dead, when connected to the controller and all the other wires it does nothing , but when testing just the tube it goes a nuts.

i am clued up somewhat . but a diagram would ease the pain

is there anyway to use the 2 supplies in conjunction ? so the blue one with 24v for stepper and black one for laser , or not worth the risk , thankyou for your time

I wouldn’t use both. I’d get a like-for-like replacement, they’re widely available and not very expensive or you could ask OMTech for a more suitable one.

Sending only the HV PSU when you had a combination PSU isn’t a suitable replacement part and certainly shouldn’t be considered end-user swappable (in my opinion).

That said if you’re determined I’d recommend simply getting a smaller dedicated DC PSU for the steppers and controller power. You can find the pin-outs for PSUs online or usually they are marked on the PCB.

I hope that helps. Warning - PSUs output extremely high voltages and contain capacitors and other components that can retain high amount of power after disconnection. Unless you really know what you are doing do not dismantle a PSU.

Thanks for your input , i can get a 40w like for like but not a 50w unless from omtech its not due in till late february, do you think a 40w could run a 45-50w tube ? Or maybe wait for an omtech one , or could i buy a 60w to run a 50w tube ?

Like this ?

thanks
