I am having issues engraving my pieces of work. Usually I have no issues lasering, but with bigger images, the machine keeps randomly pausing emitting the red light. I can keep pressing the button to unpause the machine, but the machine keeps pausing no matter what. Is this a Ruida hardware issue? I checked the forum but there is no concrete diagnosis.
Are you sending the job to the laser and starting from there or are you clicking start in Lightburn? When you click start Lightburn starts streaming the file and the laser starts running as soon as it has enough info and the file continues to stream until fully loaded. That sometimes introduces errors. especially on larger files.
How many files are stored on your machine? When Ruida controllers get near full they sometimes error out. Clearing out the memory can help reduce errors.
You can add a console to your machine, that will tell you what’s going on within the controller with much more clear error reporting compared to a red ring. It will also allow you to set a user defined origin and change the IP. Well worth the upgrade.
Good luck
Thanks for your feedback @thelmuth, I specifically press start on Lightburn which runs the bitmap/jpg image engraving for 6 to 10 secs before it pauses everytime. The image isnt that file heavy (less that 1mb)…
That said, how do you delete the files from the machine? Is there anyway to process the engraving smoothly without having to run a controller? I tried to alter the usb connection (so that it doesnt sleep) through device manager but with no success
Thank you @jkwilborn, ill take a look at your vid link and see if the fix can be relatively easy!
In Lightburn, go to window menu and select File List. From there you can see all the files stored on your machine and delete as well. If you always use start, there might not be any. I’m not familiar with operation of the Polar.
Maybe check the manual to see if you can use send and hit the button to start.
Is Ethernet connection an option for you? It is much more stable.
I tried to connect ethernet @thelmuth but with no success. The computer’s IPv4 Address is 192.168.1.10 and I wrote 192.168.1.101 in New Device Wizard. The connection doesn’t seem to work for some reason
Where did you get that address? Is that something you found in the Polar docs or did you assign it to the Polar? I can tell you how to assign an IP address in a system with a control panel, but have no idea how to do it without.
Also, were you making a direct connection to your computer or connecting through your LAN?
I added a 1 as I learned that it needs to be sligtly different than the IPv4 address. I have both the USB and Ethernet connected to the machine from my laptop. The funny thing is that it used to work smoothly with some pauses, but now its more than ever…
I also don’t have a control panel and wish to use the machine without one
The 192.168.2.10 is the address of your PC. You need to put the IP Address that is assigned to the Polar in the Lightburn, not what you would like it to be. It looks like the default address for the Polar is 192.168.1.100. You were so close. Look at this post. Particularly the solution.
