Well guys, a new PC showed up. Got it set up with lightburn. added my device. did some calibrations and set up the same file to engrave…..so far so good. It has not stopped engraving. I did not check the $110 and $111 settings. In have the speed set on 4000mm/m and it seems slow. Hoping the max speed needs to be adjusted up.
Before changing anything, make a copy of the GRBL parameters. You can do this using the Machine Settings Window, where you can also change any parameters.
If you enter $$ in the Console window, you will get a list of the parameters with their values. If you copy and past that list in a Reply, then you can get advice on which ones to change. Or not to change.
THIS we like to hear. ![]()
Well I messed up…..The max speed setting were only at 2000mm/m, I set both $110 and $111 to 6000 and hit enter. Well this removed the $100 and $101 settings and the $120 and $121 settings..
This also changed the direction of the stepper motors.
I did not have a backup of the original $$ settings. What is the procedure for restoring back to original.? can I remove machine and start over??
But at least we know it works right…Go ahead, call me a dumb a$$.
GRBL $$ settings.txt (352 Bytes) Shows a few “0” entries?
$RST=* in the Console window restores the GRBL parameters to factory settings. If you use this, any parameters you changed in the past will be lost. I recommend working with your current settings. Do these in the order listed…
- Make sure Home does its thing right. I am guessing it in the front-left corner.
- Test Jog directions. If any are backwards, you can flip an axis individually in the Machine Settings window.
- It is nice if the front-left corner shows 0,0,0 (or small numbers) at the top of the Move window. This will mean Lightburn is working in graph Quadrant #1.
Those parameters should not have changed motion control.
I just looked at that parameter list. It is a mess and I am amazed the machine even moved.
Go ahead and do the Factory Reset.
Them are the settings right after I connected device….It did not move untill I added settings
now I am not able to calibrate the axis, if I ask it to move 100mm it is only moving about 45mm. When I make adjustments in the calibrate axis, it does not work.
How would I do the factory reset?
$RST=* (posting #25)
Really!! I dont know what is with this thing. I nicely got everything set up and calibrated, doing some tests…next thing I know is I lost everything again…will not jog will not move or do anything.
This usually means that you turned on “gcode clustering” in device settings, but your laser doesn’t support it. Make sure it’s turned off. Then it should work.
No, G code clustering has not been on.
The turn on „show all“ in console and try again. This should show the commands used. Maybe that was suggested already, in my mobile I can’t scroll through the full topic.
Continuing the discussion from Only able to engrave text, not images:I had the same problem that no one could solve, and it turned out that I simply did not have a high enough power setting.
Low power will not cause error messages on a diode laser.
From Bio: “Timothy Rothman control”. What does this mean?
I am guessing a power source issue or bad solder joint on the controller board. Does anything light up or any fans run?
Sorry I didn’t know there was an error message.
I got playing with the usb input on the control board, it was loose. Rather than waiting for a new board I used CA glue to fasten the Usb to the board solid. Seems to be working good. I have engraved 4 or 5 4” slate tiles and it has not stopped.
Excellent news! Amazing how many things get fixed with super glue or duct tape.
Or with WD-40!
