Hi all.
I dont think this is a lightburn problem but i know how knowledgeable you all are out there, and hopefully 1 of you can shed some light on this. I have an old blue and white 100 watt 900x600 Co2 laser. I changed the original crap Leetro controller to a Top wisdom controller, and for a while was happy with it till i outgrew its terrible memory capacity. I upgraded to a Ruida controller with more memory…but no matter what i try i cant get the laser head to start from wherever its ended up at after its last job. I contstantly have to press origin on the controller. I guess thats no big deal, but after 2 years of not having to ive ruined quite a few jobs because of it, and its annoying knowing that i never had this problem with the 2 previous controllers. Any help greatly appreciated. PS changing origin settings in lightburn make no difference.
With Ruida, I like to use the ‘User Origin’ mode, and ‘Send’ from LightBurn, then from the machine control panel - position the laser, set the ‘Origin’, ‘Frame’ , then ‘Start’.
I have run into a few cases with ‘Current Position’ where the job did not start where expected.
How is the PC connected to the Ruida? USB or ethernet? If USB try switching to from the Serial/USB to the Packet/USB connection method and see if that makes a difference - or try changing to ethernet which is a faster file transfer.
But you should frame first to be certain anyway.
Some discussion here that might be helpful:
Ditto…
You can set the machine as to where it returns after a job in the Machine Settings.
Mine is set to origin and returns to where I have set the origin on the console.
I switched to Ethernet, soon after getting the machine, USB seems to be the worst option to talk to the Ruida.. neither work great, in my opinion.
Ruida, good controller, just lacking some good communications skills.
