hey there, i want to build my own rotary setup bc i want bigger diameters (up from 35cm), which Nema17 do i need for the Ortur Laser Master 2 Pro S2? Current and voltage?
See if you can find a P/N label on one of the steppers on your laser.
You sure it is a NEMA 17, or is that your design choice? If you are going to plug it into the Yaxis feed, you should match what ever stepper is on your machine. that way, you will not have to mess with current and step size values in the controller when you switch.
Nema 17 are roughly all the same. You can run them at 12 or 24V, the current depends on the model type and size. But that can be usually adjusted at the mainboard. If the mainboard has pluggable stepper drivers, you can also use external drivers and bigger steppers like Nema 23.
Depending on the weight of your objects, I’d choose a Nema 17 with at least 42 mm in length, those usually have enough power for normal tasks.
