Not sure this is the correct place to post, but im having some issues with my Ortur LM2 with a LU 1-3 laser i bought used to play with. I have a cnc router, but this laser stuff is new to me.
Im having an issue where my laser turns on as soon as i hit the start button and it doesnt turn off until the program is complete. Once complete, laser turns off, then returns home. It stays on between movements so i get all the movment lines and when i try fill text, it just makes a big bubble (see pic). I am hoping there is a setting that i am missing somewhere. Ive checked that $32=1 and no change.
I had this problem and it was a mother board failure. They sent me a new one along with a grounding kit which fixed it. My machine is like 2.5 years old now.
That is my fear. Do you happen to have a part number for the board? I’ve emailed Ortur tech support, but so far dealing with them has been a pretty slow process and hasn’t yielded much help.
thank you, I am leaning towards hardware being the issue, but trying to rule out it isnt a setting I am missing somewhere first. The laser is new to me as is lightburn, so its quite possible I could be missing something.
I have read through that thread a few times, I will have to try some testing when I get some time this week. thank you
Ortur was good with me but that was some time ago and I have noticed how expensive they have gotten. I think this is the email (from the warranty card) I used. Like I said it was 2.5 years ago. support_ortur@163.com
Got a response back from Ortur with not much help other than buy a new board.
Hi,
The behavior you described, including the laser turning on as soon as the start button is pressed and staying on between movements, is not normal and could indicate a malfunctioning control board, We recommend that you replace the motherboard with a new one, which can be found at this link below for the corresponding model.
How old is your machine? And I assume this is a new mother board. The price seems a little high but reasonable. I did look at your link and I see that they have added on products. I also do not see any warranty info. This laser does work but needed “tuning” to get it robust. And Did it suggest a ground cable? They may have fixed that issue.
Sorry for slow response, been busy and havent had much time to play with it. I was able to get a spare control board (on the frame) and tried using that and got the same results. So, I dont think its the control board. I am pretty sure its the module board on the laser.
Now, the question is, do I spend a little and upgrade the laser, or do I replace with a cheap similar laser, sell the whole thing and just buy a new system like a TwoTrees or Comgrow. Looking at a 10W system preferably under $400.
