Been using the OLM2 now for few years. Done some broken cable repairs (soldering). Now I’ve got another issue and I’m pretty sure it’s again cabling related. The head is moving around when homing (after powering up, without laptop connected). One time it goes righr and back, then the next time left, it hangs in the middle, also gets front left (not to the limit switch). I checked the xaxis cable, broken twice, soldered. But still no good. Any idea where to look for the issue? Would be a cabling replacement enough? I’m even not sure if those cables are still availible at Ortur
cleaned the rails, checked the belts.
I’m adding a link to a video for better understanding. Thank you in advamce for any hints.
Your video indicates your broken wire issue is a Never Ending Story. With the constant flexing, breaks are guaranteed. Not enough time to do it right, but plenty of time to do it over? This image gives you an idea on how it can be done. You can use inexpensive spiral wrap to minimize the sharp bends.
Thanks. I do have spirals on the cables indeed, but removed them now for inspection. If one “doesn’t know how it should be, he’s not meant to be wrong” I got it this way and been using it for years. So thanks, will take this hint. But first need to somehow get it working before
If you decide to go the cable replacement route, there is a gentleman on Etsy that makes standard and custom length Ortur Laser Master wiring harness’ (IhabLaserDesigns - Etsy). A year or so back, I replaced the OEM controller on my OLM2 Pro (S1) with one of Tim Rothman’s B-N-B 3 controllers. The connector on the main board is the 18-pin that the S2 uses, and not the 32-pin that’s on the S1, so I had to have a new harness made. Ihab does great work.
Thank you. I would just order all new cables. But I’m not sure if it’s maybe not also a problem with the motherboard… I’ll try first with the cables, but would need to find someone from EU as this one is from California (shipping costs ). Thank you.
