Ortur LM2 with Ortur LU2-10A kit + Ortur Tarara 2.0 Not working in Lightburn

Set up works only when YRR v 2.0 is disconnected with non rotary configuration.

But when I disconnect the Y motor on the LM2 and connect the cable to the YRR 2.0

I get the error 6
I have followed to the T https://youtu.be/wL6tXOupQgo?si=Z9o0lTfklC-b5K-d
But I keep getting the same error.

I know it should work because if I load back the machine settings and turn off all the rotary selections when I power on the YRR 2.0 turns on when powering on.

I tried the instructions included in the assembly guide that came with the YRR 2.0

In console entering individually $22=0 I get ok
When entering $141=600 I get an error
and $101=80 I also get an error

If I enter it all in one line with just a single space between each set I still get errors

Please help
DJEsco

I assume you’re referring to the rotary when you say “Ortur Tarara 2.0”. Please confirm.

Is this Error 6 or Alarm 6? Can you take a screenshot of the actual error?

If Alarm 6, do you get this before or after you’ve changed $22=0?

This is because your machine doesn’t actually use $141.

This should work. Can you take a screenshot of the error?

After you disable homing. Are you not able to use the Y jogging controls to move the rotary?

Retries this morning and instead of typing what I recalled from memory (to avoid me giving any misinformation) I ran through the entire process again.

Connected YRR 2.0 rotary cable to the Y axis cable by detaching the Marked “Y” axis servo and plugging the YRR 2.0 cable in its place.

Connected the USB cable from the Ortur LM 2 to my MacBook Pro
Connected 2 power adapters that power the following::: (1) Ortur LM2
and
(2) LU2-10A Laser module and the Adapter board.,

Powered everything on and verified.
Powered on the Ortur using front panel power button by press and holding for 5 seconds until blue and red led flash indicating USB is ready and unit is powered on)
Then launched Lightburn (currently running ver. 1.4.05) checked for updates in software comes back with “Your version is up to date (1.4.05)

Now here is the interesting part:
I noticed next to devices (Auto) is present yet no device is being selected by the software automatically.
In contrast when I run with Non Rotary settings the system automatically finds the Ortur as cu.usbmodem00585C5D48381

So in this case I pick the aforementioned and it goes from “waiting for connection….” to the Ortur LM2
And showing ok as a connection has been established.

I go to machine settings all appears to be ok

In the softwares console (Per the instructions included with the YRR 2.0)
I type in $22=0 (enter) “ok”

I type in $141=600 (enter) “error:3
Grbl’$’ system command was not recognized or supported.”

I type in $101=80 (enter)”ok”

I go to the Laser tools tab and select rotary setup
I made sure Rotary type is set to Roller
Enable Rotary is on
Y Axis is selected mirror output is off
In Rotary Axis I have set 63.00 mm per rotation
Roller Diameter is set to 20.000 mm
(as per the Instructions included with the YRR 2.0

I inputed the object diameter at 72.760 mm
The software calculated and input a circumference of 228.582mm

If I hit the “Test” button nothing happens mechanically and I get the error 9 message

I can repeat the entire process via a complete power off and shutdown restart process skip the “Test” button
draw a rectangle give it a value for speed and power and ensure output is on, show is on, air is on just as if I were going to burn it on a surface

When try to frame and in console this comes up: the same with attempting to burn it.
<Alarm|Mpos.0.000,0,000,0,000|Bf:99,512|FS:0,0|Pn:PX|WCO:0.000,0.000,0.000>

(The error 9 message repeats about 9 times)

Thank you for your response hopefully we get this one figured out.
Sincerely, Esco

First thing, it looks like your device is configured with the wrong device profile.

Push Devices button in Laser window, select your laser, then Edit. Change to GRBL device, and not any variant of that. Complete the wizard.

In Edit->Device Settings, disable “Enable DTR signal” as that shouldn’t be necessary. Then take a screenshot of that window.

Can you repeat your test. This alone should not necessarily address root cause but it’s one less thing to consider.

You can ignore this. Your controller doesn’t support $141.

You can skip this as well. Your default configuration for $101 should be 80 unless you’ve made other modifications.

Can you provide a screenshot of this window?

It looks like the X-axis limit switch is being actuated. Can you double check this? This is likely the root cause of your issues.

When working without the rotary does your machine home correctly?

First and foremost I want to thank you for your help I tremendously appreciate it.

I did exactly what you stated which was to delete the laser profile (because you stated it was the wrong one)
I am including the video for this.(note I disabled the home feature because I will be using a rotary and to avoid error from it not being able to home via use of the Y axis)

I noticed that after the change I now have the ability to simply launch and the laser shows up on my device list vs prior to change it would start showing auto yet it would not automatically load and one would have to pick the device from the drop down. This fix is nice as it is one less thing I have to worry about now.

I also made the changes you stated in machine settings (Remove DTR” and have the screen pic for you in addition I also made changes on the Rotary tool to coincide with my setup and took a picture for you per your instructions.

If I select test I am getting the same error code.

Shut down power to the laser hardware and closed Lightburn then turned the laser hardware back on and relaunched Lightburn

The hardware was immediately auto detected in the devices window and in the console window it showed proper communication and a ok status.

I decided to test via making a simple vertical rectangle then under cuts and layers setting speed and power 1000 and 20 then in the laser window choosing “Start”

Nothing happens

In the console window this what results:

This is the alarm state that’s being complained about.

Can you run these commands in Console and return output?

Try pushing the Stop button to clear the alarm. If that doesn’t work. Try typing $X in Console.

Check to see if the alarm is released by typing ?.
