I am trying to print a Lightburn file that lays down a template for the Ortur Laser. All my burn lines are very wide. Understand I am completely new to this so may be a dumb question, but trying to learn.
Can you quantify very wide? Please attach a photo of what you’re seeing. May also help if you upload your .lbrn file here for review.
The Line on the attached is supposed to be a thin line on the grid from the lbrn file also attached. The leeters are supossed to be just outlined letters but burn is so thick they filled in solid.

Thanks
If you zoom in on your design you can see that each “line” is actually made up of 2 parallel lines. That is why they appear so thick and dark both in the design and also in your burn.
It looks like every “line” is actually a rectangle shape. Suggest You redesign your grid with a true line to avoid this.
I created a new engrave on Balsa wood using the Lighttburn Material Library of 300 speed and 100% power and set to line. It still burned very thick and this was a newly created letter in Lightburn. Tried several other settings. cannot get anything to work. Letter T engrave attached.
What do you mean by “the LightBurn Material Library”? Did you get one pre-populated? LightBurn does not supply any burn settings out of the box.
You will need to adjust speed and power accordingly given your material, burn type, and desired look.
What other settings did you try?
Can you articulate exactly what you mean by this? As-is this statement doesn’t provide information to assist in troubleshooting.
Can you also upload the updated file that you used? Did you make the accommodation for the thick lines that I described earlier? Did that make a difference?
From what I can see in your photos - the letters are set to OFFSET FILL on the layers tab, rather than as LINE. And you are moving the laser very slow and running very hot. I bet your shop is very smokey
Another thing that will cause the laser to burn a “wide” line is when it is out of focus. Out of focus will need more energy to engrave. Get your settings dialed in and the magic begins.
Thanks so much for all who replied to help me.
This is a great forum.
I am completely brand new to all of this.
Finally learned that the method I used to focus the Ortur Laser Master 2 Pro was completely incorrect.
Once I got it focused correctly everything was great.
Thanks again for the quick responses.
Trying to learn about importing and engraving graphics.
Any ides on where to buy how-to’s on that.
Youtube has taught me all I know about Lightburn and engraving.
Louisianna HOBBY guy and Laser Livestream are two good sources. Once you start watching thier videos, more suggestions will pop up.
I am new to laser engraving and this forum, but very impressed with how members jumped to help me. Turns out all my problems on the new Ortur Laser Master 2 Pro were from me focusing it totally wrong from a video I watched. It is workling great now and I am looking forward to this new hobby. Thanks for the tips also of sites to go to for drawings and projects.
