@DBat These are on Alder
using LightBurn Stucki 5 watt Diode
No way. These are amazing pics and you did them with Alder? Never heard of this one.
What type of wood did you use?
ALDER WOOD… ok . I have been usind basswood or whatever from Amazon.
These are crazy good. I can’t believe that chrome would look that good with a laser/
Remember that $800 5w diode I mentioned? @Bulldog is the one. His work sets the bar high for the rest of us. ![]()
If you zoom in on the chrome Terminator, you can see the dots from the Jarvis or Stuki format. That confirms you do not need to use Greyscale.
@Bulldog work is brutal. (I sincerely hope the expense required to achieve this level of quality is worth it.)
I believe I can match his work, just like going to the moon and buying a house there! (It seems like it will be possible…)

yes alder wood from local mill
@MikeyH Only the greyscale was performed with the Opt Laser
The dithers were engraved with a 2.5 watt Oxlaser from ali express
That just shows you can do fantastic work with a low power laser. I am amazed by the number of people that complain about the lack of detail with their 20w or 40w diodes, or 60w CO2 machines.
Apparently not. Read his comment about the 2.5w laser.
Between the lines, the reward isn’t always monetary. Often, the pleasure of seeing what has been achieved, and the recognition from others, brings a joy that compensates for the investment. ![]()
@MikeyH anything over 5 watts with diode you will lose all the fine details as the beam size of theses stacked diodes is huge compared to a single diode with good lens
Thanks for dropping in, have missed you posting your superb work and was starting to worry about you…
Glad you doing fine, love the photos, as usual.

@jkwilborn Thanks mate
Took some time off
Kinda lost interest for a while
Yes, I know. But many do not.
Is there any chance I could get some constructive criticism on this work. About seventeen try’s at this (one whole week doing only these) using 20w snap maker, birch ply, watered down acrylic titanium white paint, 20%power, 30deg scan and then 10%power -30deg scan, 2700mm/min, all attempts using 204dpi to 254dpi, Gimp to raise the light greys and dull the too brights.
