Since I renewed the license for another year, nothing works anymore. When switched on, the IKIER K1 laser no longer performs a reference run, and the following message appears on the console: waiting for connection.
The camera image from the protective housing is also no longer displayed in Lightburn.
All these features were working before the license was renewed.
Could it be that something went wrong during license activation?
My user account shows that my license is active, but nothing works anymore.
Thank you very much for your support.
Kind regards, Beat
You did not renew the license. You renewed the ability to get program updates.
If the suggestion @bernd.dk made does not solve your problem, then you can always reinstall a previous version that works. This will let you get production out while the mystery is being investigated.
Thank you for your support so far.
As Bernd suggested, I selected and activated an older folder. The laser then started working again. However, the camera image is still not displayed in Lightburn. Nothing happens in the āCamera settingsā field where the image is normally displayed. The camera settings are correct, and the device manager shows that the camera is being used by Lightburn. Nevertheless, the image is not displayed under camera settings.
I read in the forum that cheap Chinese cameras sometimes cause problems. My camera is a built-in device installed in the IKIER E2 housing. I bought it a year ago. Until now, the camera has worked great.
I could use a high-quality camera and see if it works. However, I canāt do that until Monday because thatās when Iāll be back at work.
Thank you for your support.
Best regards, Beat
If you were able to use your camera until your license renewal, it should work now. But sometimes the camera gets stuck on its USB port address and wonāt renew it. Try turning everything off and trying a different USB port, which should work. If you are an experienced computer user, you can also force the system to release the address of your USB device in the system settings.
As explained by Mike, ārenewingā adds another year of updates to the current license, allowing you to use the latest version of LightBurn from here: Index of /LightBurn/Release/LightBurn-v2.0.03/
Did you install this?
You might need to power cycle your laser, and manually select the correct COM port in the āLaserā window:
The recent updates changed how LightBurn talks to cameras, and itās possible that you ned to redo both the Camera Lens Calibration and the Camera Alignment.
This is great news. Weāre also hunting the ālost settingsā behavior to prevent other users from having this happen.
The āPrefs fileā that Benrd recommended reloading, is re-written every time settings change. So, now you have at least one good one and at least one bad one in that folder.
Please send me a direct message with the most recently changed lbprefs file (that partially fixed the problem today) and the Lbprefs file in that folder from just before that.
I took a look at the issue and found the following.
Before loading a past folder, nothing worked at all. I then loaded a folder from June 2025. Everything worked again, except for the camera. I then loaded every folder, including those after the license renewal, and checked the date when the laser stopped working. Now hereās the surprise: since the laser started working again with the old folder, all subsequent folders are working again too. Even those after the license renewal, which caused problems at the beginning. Very strange. Nevertheless, the camera is not working. I canāt calibrate it either because it doesnāt project any image onto the Lightburn surface at all. Nothing works. I made the switch to Com7, but still no image appears from the camera. Should I completely uninstall Lightburn and reload it? Could that help?
