Problems starting 1.7.0 RC on Windows 11

Trying to run the latest RC on Windows 11 and having problems. Click on the icon (from desktop or the start menu) and I get nothing but a busy cursor for a couple seconds and then nothing. Checked the event log and I’ve got an error complaining about an exception in MSVCP140.dll so I grabbed the latest installer for that and ran the repair option to no avail. The old “beta” 1.7 from the google drive works fine but the official RCs don’t (tried RC2, RC3, and RC5 this morning).

Can provide more info from the event viewer or what not if that’d help. More an inconvenience at the moment as the RC’s running fine on the laptop I actually drive my laser from but would like to keep my design desktop and it in sync if possible.

I had this same issue on one of my Windows 11 machines. What I ended up doing that resolved it was to remove all version of Microsoft Visual C++ runtimes that were installed on the machine and then reinstall LightBurn. The LightBurn installer reinstalled the Visual C++ runtime, and things were back to normal again. Obviously, something got corrupted or mismatched with Visual C++ that was causing the issues. Hope this helps resolve your issues.

W00t. That did it.

Somehow I had a couple versions of the MSVC package installed. Removed the Lightburn RC, removed all of the MSVC 2015-2019 installs, reran the Lightburn RC 5 installer and it reinstalled MSVC and then itself and it’s working fine now.

It’s kind of the nature of the beast, you’ll get a bunch of different versions that different programs will install over time. Glad that fixed it though.
