Thank you for your inquiry. We do not usually offer progress updates for unreleased products outside our private beta activities. At present, nothing new to share.
Can not Wait. Having a Combo Laser and CNC - I would love to have the same Software and Support. Keep up the great work
I would love to be able to design and tab between laser and cnc all in just one piece of software.
You can partially do this today, at least a 2D design in LB, export to DXF/SVG. Then import into a CAM program for toolpathing/gcode generation. Being able to do that all in one UI will be great.
So we are now past Q2 2024, is Q3 looking any better ?
Will take time to play and learn, would like to get some hrs up b4 Xmas
Would be great I think, but not in the cards. Design laser or cnc without leaving Lightburn software.
Use Lightburn to create the Gcode, and Candle to feed it to the CNC Mill.
I got to sit and play with it a little at OpenSauce. It is looking like an excellent tool. I asked specific questions about post processing (I have several different types of mills) and got to walk through the post generator screens a little. Looking forward to getting my hands on an early copy for testing. There is definitely a lot of excitement building for this.
Completely upgrading my home-made CNC router, and at my age hoping to get MillMage [before] Alzheimer’s.
I have a Combo Laser / CNC due to arrive soon. So what to stay with Light burn for many reasons…
These will be two separate software.
any updates?
the lack of transparency seems concerning, we all get software delays happen, it just feels bad being left in the dark about it.
either way when it is released I hope they do a bundle deal for people that want both millmage and lightburn because I imagine im not the only one with a laser and a little CNC
I couldn’t wait any longer so just purchased VCarve Pro for my CNC work.
Delay? We do not and have not provided anything apart from an estimate. We do not provide anticipated release dates. No one is left in the dark this way. We release when we feel the product is ready.
I use an older version of carbide create to create gcode then open builds control. Vcarve is way too expensive for me.
No useful Zaxis control in Lightburn for the CNC, so MillMage is for when you put the spindle motor back in. The two software packages are so much alike, you will not hate switching back and forth. I bought a dedicated laser because I hated switching.
As a Hobby for family and to keep active in my later years - SO MUCH Software is JUST WAY too $$$$$$$$$. And HATE monthly fees with a PASION.
Carbide create V6 and openbuilds control where both free.
It’s a pain to make changes to your project as you have to create new gcode for any change you want to make.
Hoping millmage will be like Lightburn and make changes on the fly. It will also need v carve as majority of my routing is v carve.
Still eagerly awaiting MillMage. As I’m not one of the beta team, like many others as well I’m waiting for the MillMage release and would love to have a hint of what functions and features are to be included in the initial release. I have several projects in the works over the next few months and would love to know if the needed capabilities will likely be there when needed. Assuming that basic surfacing, pocketing, and contour operations are a given I’m specifically curious about:
Coming from a product management background I completely understand the reluctance to commit to the feature set before release but it would be really helpful to have a hint at what is likely to be included - known or aspirational.
Having been a committed Lightburn user for several years now it would be great to have the same feeling, and confidence, about my CNC software tools.
Any hints would be greatly anticipated. I’m hoping time before release is now a matter of weeks away but will be waiting for you regardless.
