Just got a new 10w UV that has the RKQ-LM-441 board in it.
Have tried two different computers, uninstalled/reinstalled RKcad several times, Tried installing the newer Npcap instead of the obsolete Winpcap RKcad comes packaged with.
Tried switching network cables.
Have one solid green light and one blinking green on the RKQ-LM-441 board.
Any further suggestions?
Win 11 on both the PC and laptop I tried with.
Did check to ensure the ethernet port was enabled.
Maybe I am missing a setting in windows???
When I launch RKcad it immediatley goes to the “no card found, entering demo mode”
I read through that thread before I posted. Found a copy of the manual, wasn’t much help.
Unfortunately China is on holiday till the 8’th.
I have no doubt they will get it sorted for me one way or another, just hoping maybe I missed something easy so I wouldn’t have to possibly wait until they go back to work.
It is a BWM machine.
You can Talk with Emily Zhao on facebook. She is super nice and helpful.
Got the 10w UV and a 100w Mopa, both delivered today via FedEx
Already have lightburn set up for the 100w mopa, but it doesn’t support my uv machine.
Been using lightburn for years now on co2. I was around when the software first launched and we all rejoiced, lol
What are your network/IP settings? Are you connecting directly or through a router? If it’s a direct connection, you have to set a manual, static IP (in the 192.168.1.x or 192.168.100.x range can’t immediately recall)
It is connected directly to the network port on a desktop PC.
This is the first I have heard of having to set IP addresses.
What I was vaguely told by someone else was “what ever it does should be automatic once its plugged in and RKcad is installed”
Honestly didn’t sound right to me, but my network settings are just set to automatic/DCHP, etc..
You can tell your router to not include it in the DHCP pool. Instead, you can tell it one or more IP addresses are “fixed” and are not to be issued. IP addresses using DHCP have a TTL (time to live). This means if they are not used within a certain time, they can go back into the randomly assigned pool. A “Fixed IP Address” keeps this from happening, so a device with a hard coded IP address will continue to get the same one.
Yeah, if it’s directly connected it will automatically figure out an IP to use (by spamming broadcast packets), and will talk to the host over IP once configured, but you still need to set the pc to have an IP.
In the rkcad setting under network, there is a place for “remote address” and also a box for port.
I have tried leaving them blank, and have tried matching the IP to the one I set on the PC for the nic (tried both 192.168.1.x and 192.168.100.x range addresses on the PC’s nic) still won’t connect.
Does RKcad need a specific port number to be entered?
Minor update…breakthrough…downloaded a different version of rkcad (from the cloudray website) and it just connected without issue…settings are all wrong as the cludray uv machines are wired different/different laser source etc.
But it is connecting and working.
May just have to wait now until the Chinese national holiday is over so they can fix the settings or send me a new/better copy of rkcad
PC nic card is set back to DHCP,
no change to RK cad settings either, it defaults to an ip of 127.0.0.1 with no port info.
Apparently what I was told was true, it should just plug into the network port on the pc, turn on the machine, start RK Cad and it just detects it.
Spent the last hour or so redoing settings, I think I have basically everything set, cut some 3mm baltic birch, ran some tests on black metal business cards.
Only thing thats still acting “weird” is the outline preview system isn’t working.
I think the version that came with the laser is def the issue. It was:
V 1.5.4.2
Cloudray copy that seems to work is:
V1.5.6.8
I’m still trying to get a copy of the newest version off the RKQ site, but there download section is super janky and doesn’t work right.
Latest version is:
V1.5.7.1
Side note…the authorization code that is in with the cloudray files does not seem to work and all the advanced features are still locked out (3D inner engraving etc)
Thankfully the authorization code I got with my machine did unlock the 3d inner engraving.
If anyone has a copy, or can get the rkq site to work properly and can get a copy of the latest V1.5.7.1 software I would truley appreciate it.
The only two links I could find for it are the RKQ site and rock solid laser but the RS site appears to have been taken down/out of business
WOW! some good stuff in there with demo files etc.
There version still isn’t the newest.
However I finally discovered deep in the USB stick that came with my UV they had a “portable” version of the newest RKcad V1.5.7.1 that doesn’t even need to be installed, runs straight from the drive (same way cloudrays version does)
Why they decided to put the old version installer in the root of the drive is beyond me aside from it installs Winpcap during its process, would have been better to just include the pcap installer by itself, preferably the newer non obsolete version…
Anyways, everything is now sorted, machine is running and I have the current version of RK-cad.
I appreciate everyones help…and especial fins, that last link is going to come in super handy for sure!!!
Hey Jeremy, I just came across your post, I have the latest software. The website is still updated. The download section is not online. You can see attached
I wanted to ask about 10W machine, does it have automated Z-axis? Does it clearly engrave on one pass with small voxel size? Can you do inner carving. The software is still buggy but it works at least. I personally liked 1.5.8 because of the point cloud preview. I really appreciate the answers.
