I need help getting my rotary Setup. I have the RUIDA Controller, and have a switch to enable the rotary or the Y axis. The rotary is a TYVOK Rotary Pro 2, it is a Chuck type rotary.
the info that came with it is very vague on setting it up. It is based on an older version of LB I think 1.4.6
Should be fairly straightforward. If I remember correctly nothing significant changed as far as rotary setup since 1.4.
Connect your rotary to the plug, flip the switch to rotary. In lightburn open the rotary setup window, enable the rotary, choose chuck rotary, enter the steps per rotation that should be supplied by the rotary manufacturer. Push the test button and the chuck should make 1 complete rotation and reverse back to the starting position. If it doesn’t make a complete rotation you need to adjust the steps until it does.
Once that is correct, you can input your object diameter and run your design.
Lens Digital has a chart for how many steps to set the Grip to on sveral brands of machine. It’s in their setup manual. For my Omtech, they said it will either be 2000 or 5000 with 2000 being most common. They were spot on with that info
That’s fine if you buy one of the factory types for the same factory type as you want to plug and play.
No matter how you do it, you need to know the steps/rotation set on the motor driver… These are digital, at least to the motor, so it shouldn’t relay on a guess from the vendor. If OMTech really knew they’d tell you.
When I got my Cloudray fiber, the steps/rotation were in the machine, which had a warranty seal. I queried Cloudray and they sent me the 12,800 steps/rotation… same as on the motor driver.
I’m only suggesting it may be quicker and easier to just look at the motor driver, then you can just move on without guessing. However, I’m sure people will do what they want to do.
