Got it, had to increase the speed
Tim, what is the best type of roller in your opinion, Chuck Style or Rotary Style
I have 3 rotaries. For my Diode laser I have a two trees TR2 which is a combination chuck and roller unit. I have only used it a handful of times. My C02 came with a Mansfield 4 wheel rotary and I just recently purchased a Piburn Grip. I love the Grip! Unfortunately I don’t think it works with Diode lasers.
Choice depends on what you’re engraving. For stainless tumblers, water bottles, etc., I prefer a chuck rotary. I’m a little reticent to use it with glass though. I have a tendency to really tighten the chuck and am concerned it might break the glass. You don’t have to deal with the tumbler slipping like you do on a roller setup, both in rotation and end to end.
The roller can do some things that a chuck can’t, like rolling pins, baseball bats and other cylindrical items that don’t have a good way to chuck them up.
I hate this roller with the uneven tumblers that taper small to large opening. Hard to keep it balanced. Get me your recommendation on the chuck style brand i should purchase
I don’t really have a recommendation for a diode laser compatible rotary, but a few minutes on google I came across this one. It has all the features I would want. I like the way the tilt mechanism tightens. There might be better ones out there, IDK. Might want to check on some Facebook groups for recommendations.
I would highly recommend figuring out some type of “soft jaw” for the L jaws as the tumbler can slip off the hard plastic. There are probably aftermarket jaws available somewhere.
I ordered from Algo Laser, the company i brought my Delta laser from. I got it for $97, with shipping by DHL. 5 day delivery, Ortur Y-axis Chuck Roller
Tim, do u have time to video me on whats app
Tim, is it possible to get fairly round circles in the design. Computer shows one thing and the output is different, more of a onlong circle. The 1st pic is 378 Rotation, the second pic is 388 which seems slightly wider. I going to try a dial back from the 378
Its changing some, ive had to go down to 338 mm per rotation to get a somewhat circle, is this a normal thing until its dialed in
It’s an optical illusion. Because of the round shape of the cup it appears squished. If you measure it you will see it’s the correct dimension. Add about 10% to the width of the design and it will look better. Don’t change the rotary settings, adjust the image.
