Would it be fine to write proper crack get rid of WMI dependency of the Windows version to be able to buy and run the licensed software on Linux?
Or could you have just some different licensing mechanism… There are so many apps, which can be ran on Linux in Wine, so it is sad that this one is implemented in a way that it does not work there.
Linux support was allowed to sunset at ver 1.7, IIRC. As I recall, the development team found that the majority of the problems and issues reported were from the smallest sub-set of users. Return on Investment pointed to the end of Linux support.
Yeah. That was my point exactly. When dropping Linux support would be nice to have Windows version implemented in a way that it could be run with Wine.
Even most of Windows games supports that. That way there would not be problem with having to update various Linux packages for different distros. Just one Windows version, which can be run on Wine (+ Bottle).
I think that’s covered in Section 1.9 of the EULA:
Except as expressly provided herein, you agree not to, and you will not permit others to: … (d) modify, make derivative works of, disassemble, reverse compile or reverse engineer any part of the LightBurn Software Materials …
IMO, it’s better to stand up a dedicated Win 11 laser controller and move on:
