I may have downloaded the wrong version of Lightburn Software???
I will know the issue is resolved when i can go to the “MOVE” windo on Lightburn and move my laser head!
Both the status and power lamps are continuous green!
Sorry Gil, I have two computers I use and this one is 8. OOPS@ I may have downloaded lightburn for 11? I will check
try this on your windows 8
Is a PDF instructions
IF you dont see algolaser on the dropdown of the small program, make sure to take a screenshot of the devices seen
I invoked “DRIVER windows 7.pdf” I am somewhat bewildered! EVERYTHING took place external to “lightburn” What is the point. What am I missing. I moved everything within the lightburn file but this did not good.
I havae been using PCs and writing software since the 70s. I use a CNC at least once a month am not unfamiliar with debugging. What happened to the concept of “BUY IT PUT IT TOGETHER AND IT RUNS”???
Well, for starts we have been working around wrong assumptions from the get go
windows 11 became windows 8
Windows 8 does not support ESP32 serial by default, drivers need to be installed (which is the pdf i sent you and seems you did not follow it )
Also Lightburn is in no way, shape or form able to connect to a machine not even the OS sees.
So… now that we stablished this
a) did you follow the pdf if so did you install the drivers
b) now that you did, when you plug machine and go to device manager, ports section do you see your new com device?
Going to device manager I see the same thing I have always seen: "ALGOALPHA 1 SERIAL I was not trying to give you a hard time it was more of a joke.
My view is: My computer sees the com port for my laser with no problem and always has. My lightburn software can not find Algos serial port.
I can possibly upgrade to win 11, what do you think??
plase take a screenshot of your device manager
There should be zero reasons why you would have to go through the pain of going to windows 11 (not a fan of win11 at all here!)
But i need a visual cue to know if what you are saying is what i think it is or different
just pop up device manager
Expand ports section, and take a screenshot that shows everything including the algo alpha 1 serial you describe
How do i add an image in this forum?
normally drag and drop works
or you can take a screenshot of it with your snipping tool and then Ctrv-V here
it will be just uploaded
OR the upload button
I will fix this. Keep going.
It appears that you have read a sufficient number of other posts to be promoted. You no longer have new user restrictions.
Edited for language.
ok so Definitly the computer is seeing it
But the drivers are not installed, therefore your windows 7 cannot give it a com port
If you do follow the steps in the PDF i sent earlier it should fix the problem right away
If you were to follow the PDF i sent you it should be able to fix it
Alternatively, you can reach support@algolaser.com and we could set a remote session.
I am here as Gil not AlgoLaser so not cool to setup remote support in this forum.
Sent you a PM
Fixed Via Remote Session
Required Drivers for ESP32 on Windows 8
Alarm 3s are mostly based on loss of communication and or power issue
Reach for the laser head and unplug the top cable and run the job again
Will it still alarm 3?
Good day Gil, I am beginning to think I have made a mistake. This morning, after turning everything on I get the message " Laser is disconnected" Turning everything off and on again makes no difference. I am beginning to believe I have a hardware problem because sometimes when I turn the key off the power and status lights stay on for over five minutes?? They only go off after I disconnect USB.
This is normal
WHat might happen is when the machine turns off, and you dont close lightburn it defaults to COM1 port
Then you might have to go back and reselect COM3
The restart process is always the same
PWOER on → let it home
Plug usb . hear the pc SHIME
Then launch lightburn and confirm COM3
