Steering Gear what is it for?

I have a GRBL laser controller and one output I cannot find what it is for. It’s bugging me can some one help. It’s marked as “Steering Gear” ?

Are you talking about a remote pendant socket on the controller board?

If my guess was not good, then an image of what you are talking about might help someone help you.

Hi thanks for that. But no I do not think so.

Another picture….

Couldn’t it be an output to switch between low or high airflow to complement the Air assist?
These Chinese translations are often misleading.

Google through this up if it helps

This was my first thought too, but I think this applies to some kind of CNC milling machine. Milling machines need Z axis. This board only have X and Y so it maybe something else… :thinking:

That board looks like a custom manufacture unit, like my iCube board, made just for the manufacturer. I would hook a meter to it to see if it supplies power or is a switch. The connector is too small to be much else. Only the manufacturer knows for sure. Contact them to learn what they will say.

Thanks guys. Very interesting particularly the Far Eastern bit.
It’s from a Lunyeetools S1 3040 laser engraver and no I have not yet put a meter / scope on it yet. But soon. Thanks

It’s from a lu

Its a 5v output… maybe can configure it to trigger air assist via relay solenoind valve etc ?
THe description I found as follows …
● This control board is a 32-bit MCU control board, which runs faster, the maximum no-load speed reaches 40000mm/min, the algorithm is optimized better, the vibration is smaller when the machine moves at high speed, and the performance is more stable;
● Using the Type-C USB interface, it is more convenient to use and the data transmission is more stable;
● One-piece integrated drive
● PWM output frequency 10kHz, higher engraving precision and clearer details
● Y-axis dual drive, stronger drive capability;
● Support USB automatic identification, when plugged in USB and connected to the computer, the offline interface is automatically shielded to avoid offline interference with data;
● 5V power output port, and software controllable, easy to expand various functions;
● Support USB flash firmware, firmware upgrade is more convenient;
● XY limit switch interface each
● Self-contained laser anti-burn mode, laser S value >=100, after the laser is turned on, if there is no movement within 5S, an alarm will occur
● Type 4540 - with a gyroscope module that can detect the movement of the machine during the engraving process, preventing someone from moving the machine

This is contrary to most engineering opinions.

I do not understand the relevence of vibration, to a port on a controller board?

Me neither. It is your text apparently copied from tech sheet.
