Definitely worth upgrading the USB cable, and the corruption in the received data reported by GRBL could also be due to static electricity/grounding issues.

It’s a good idea to communicate this problem with Ikier (if you haven’t already) and check if there are any firmware updates available that are relevant.

There is at least one other similar complaint with the Ikier K1 in this forum.

I’m curious, when starting the job that causes all the errors from LightBurn, does it make any difference what the machine’s ‘Mode’ setting is?

I’m wondering if there might be any improvement if this was set to ‘Fine’?, since it looks like you are currently running in ‘Standard’ mode judging by your $33 setting (which had me confused for a second - Ikier probably should have picked a much higher number for their custom $ settings). If you want, you can just change this setting at the machine’s control panel (as circled in red below) rather than in LightBurn:
