I am at my whit’s end trying to get these two parts to boolean. 100% newbie… I have successfully completed to booleans by pure accident. I have tried everything I know, which isn’t too terribly much. Tried grouping, ungrouping, close paths, and ton of other things. Please help! And dumb it down as much as possible lol
Boolean won’t work because the 'house" isn’t a closed shape. You will need to use the node editor to cut the ring and join it to the line. or make the house a closed shape. You could also use the snip tool.
A “path” consists of nodes joined by curves (or lines), but by definition each node can join only two curves.
The figure has several places where three curves appear to meet at a single node:
Those T intersections have a node at the end of a curve exactly overlaid on another curve.
You should convert each of the smaller shapes within that tower into a closed path, with only two curves (or lines) meeting at each node. For the vertical line in the middle, you can use the Offset
tool to create a closely spaced pair of lines, then the Node Editor
tool will let you splice them into the crosspieces.
