Upgrading LM2 with LM3 board

I recently got ahold of both a Laser Master 2 Pro as well as a main board for a Laser Master 3. Aside from sensorless homing, it seems like a lot of the hardware and components from the LM2 and the LM3 are similar enough to making swapping the old board with the new one doable.

Is this something anyone has experience doing? Perhaps a better question, has anyone been able to find a pinout for either of thee boards? I googled for a bit and didn’t find anything too helpful. Any help or thoughts are appreciated.

Thanks!

Is a bit more complex than just swap boards. The OLM3 board expects some chassis rigidity you wont find on the LM2.
For the cost of the OLM3 as well you might find better all encompassing - more modern - lasers by adding just a bit of budget.

Assuming your LM2 pro is still usable you could double output by having TWO lasers instead of one.

At the moment I don’t really have the room or need two machines. And It’s not that I’m necessarily in love with the LM3 or anything, but rather that I found the upgraded board on clearance for $7, so I thought it might be worth a shot.

In regards to the increased chassis rigidity, is this specifically from the beefed up Y rails?

hi!

For 7$ for sure give it a try!

But you will have to do some custom wiring and all sort of things.
Small cost to play with though

Yeah exactly. Now I’m just hoping I can find a pinout of some sort to make sure that custom wiring is done correctly. I might try just emailing them, but not sure how successful that will be.

I should be able to provide pinouts just let me know if you get it and I can get post some schematics
