Hi, I’ve not been here for a while. I have a new Lenovo Yoga (ARM) laptop.
My old version of Lightburn is apparently incompatible so I’ve been trialing the latest release. It sucks! Crashes left right & centre!
Does anyone have experience of ARM Windows & Lightburn? I’d happily buy an upgrade but not while it’s bug ridden for my platform.
Lightburn is currently not ARM compatible on any platform (although some have managed it on a Raspberry Pi).
ARM for the MAC IoS is currently in development. I have seen no mention of it for PC Windows yet.
Thanks for this. My old version simply refused to install. When the latest version installed and runs I’d foolishly imagined it to be ok!
I think Lightburn might make it clear that it’s not ARM compatible?
It works on my Lenovo Yoga but is a very bad advert for Lightburn.
There have been a lot of postings saying this. I think it even states it is only Intel compatible for the PC in the system requirements. If you Google “lightburn system requirements”, there is no mention of ARM processers.

Windows devices running on ARM processors are compatible with LightBurn, with one limitation – LightBurn is unable to automatically install the drivers needed for connecting to lasers over USB.
It’s probably best if I contact them directly.
Well, that is interesting!
Better is to search the Forum for Win installations related to ARM processors. If it can be done, I am positive more than one has done it. Hint: Use Google to search, it is fantastically up to date on the postings.
It installs ok & runs reasonably ok. I’m hesitant to buy it as it stands - I’m reaching the end of the trial period soon. It doesn’t help that I have a new laptop, new laser, and new Lightburn. I’ll keep looking, it would be nice to find someone else who uses ARM Windows to compare notes.

Windows ARM support is in the works - the main things you will need are drivers for your ARM device to communicate with the laser itself.
For DSP lasers: FTDI Drivers
For CH340/ESP32 lasers: CP210X Universal Driver
I have a Lenovo Yoga laptop which is ARM. As Colin has pointed out you will likely need serial drivers installing. I had the drivers already installed as I play with microcontrollers a lot. It’s a painless thing to do.
I’d be interested in comparing notes with others using ARM Windows. I’ve encountered a few issues with LB & it would be nice to confirm it’s not just me.
