OK - I went down this road a few months ago and found a method that worked for me - using these settings for positioning a job and the laser. Now, it doesn’t work - I can’t jog the laser left (left and right both move right)
I now have this even more messed up, and I don’t know how to get back to “ground zero” for starting. Can anyone please help me? I don’t need help actually using the software, just getting it configured correctly to work with my laser.
it works correctly with cnc control software - UGS, for example. I am 99.9% sure it is a lightburn/grlb setting or combination of those that are the problem.
I have found many places where people report similar things and several different ways to ‘fix’ it - but so far all I have found do not have the OP replying whether it worked or not. tracked down a configure steps in lightburn docs, but it got to a point that said “ if using lighburn ver 1.6 or earlier, do this…. but not what to do if using newer than lightburn 1.6, which I am. I’m on lightburn pro 2.0.05
This is after homing - jog controls work as expected - but it’s homing to back right instead of front left. That is what the config shows, but everything I’ve found says that is the way the config should be
it homes to back right regardless of the combination I try between CNC Machine and Machine Coordinates - either off/on both off/on - doesn’t seem to make any difference. is there another config listing I can get to share?
Also - should the speed/distance setting in the move window remain after restarting lightburn? I’ve noticed I have to set those every time I start the program. Don’t know if that is an indication of something else going on…. and - when I uninstalled / reinstalled lightburn earlier today, I don’t think I got a clean reinstall because when it launched for the first time it still had the device configured, etc… so it wasn’t like a fully new lightburn install…. again, in case that helps trigger an idea of what’s going on.
its got limit switches on all corners. craziest thing is that it has been working for a few months - iwent through all of the fight back in August until it was working - a couple of days ago it started acting strange - left/right jog, both moved it right… and it’s snowballed from there. I’m sure I have things worse because I’ve been trying everything I can find to get it configured correctly. It was working where it would home to bottom left, then I could use current position as my starting point and jog it to where I wanted the bottom left of the job to be.
Ok, let’s try this. Go to machine settings in the laser tools menu. On the bottom of the screen click save to file. Name and save to an allocation you will remember. Then go to he console and enter $RST=$ this will reset all grbl parameters to factory. Try a homing cycle and see if it goes to bottom left. You can always reload from the backup you made if things get worse. -
Or better yet, in machine settings choose load from backup and see if there is a backup from when the machine did work properly. I don’t know how far back / how many copies lightburn saves but this might be the fastest way to get the settings right.
OK - $23=3 seems to have made it home to bottom left…. but jog controls are weird.. both up and down move it down, and both left and right move it left
should I go ahead with the reset? There is no backup to restore from
