When I hit frame it takes me to the home position

Hi,

Been using my Atomshack a5 m50 pro on my MacBook Pro for a couple of weeks now everything going smooth but tonight when I hit the frame button before I start it takes me to the home corner and makes a horrible grinding noise, which I stop before it does it now. But why is it doing this does anyone have any idea? I wasn’t messing with the settings, I’ve changed nothing since the purchase. I uninstalled/reinstalled the software, unplugged the usb, reset my laptop but still no use.

Hoping someone can help!

Thanks,

D

Assuming the GRBL settings are correct then this should never occur as long as you conform to the following:

  1. The laser is homed at the start of each session
  2. After homing you never move the laser by hand; use jogging controls exclusively
  3. Have “Enable out of bounds warning” enabled in Edit->Device Settings and don’t ignore warning

Furthermore, I suggest you use Absolute Coords as your Start from mode until you are extremely comfortable with the function of your laser.

Can you confirm that you’re following the above? If not, retry with these conditions and report back please.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. I always home before each session and I never move it by hand and “enable out of bounds” is already enabled. I logged on this morning to see if it maybe stopped doing it but it hasn’t unfortunately.

So I just set up a standard rectangle and my job origin is always in the middle of what I’ll be working on. Instead of hitting shift+frame I hit start just to see and it says “cut might be out of bounds, continue anyway?” I hit yes and it made its way to the home position before I hit stop to avoid the awful grinding noise!

What start from mode are you using? Based on your response this isn’t Absolute Coords. If you use that do you have this problem?

Unless you’ve lost steps this message is never wrong from what I’ve seen. This is a good indication that you have a problem in your setup.

Can you take a full screenshot of LightBurn with your design loaded and ready to burn?

Hi,

When I use absolute coords it works fine! Although so strange that for the past 2 weeks i haven’t been using it and it’s worked fine until yesterday? but problem solved for now thank you so much. I’m always engraving roughly in the same dimensions every time so this will work perfect.

Thanks again,

Dean

If it works with Absolute Coords but behaves not to your expectation in other modes then this is most likely a setup or workflow issue.

What mode had you been using? I suspect User Origin. In that case you likely have the user origin position set at an odd location.

Suggest you review the documentation on this:

I was using origin but by mistake or somehow it was set to an odd location but i will read this link.

Thank you very much,
