With LB 1.5.1 Fiber laser intermittently stops

I emailed LightBurn support with zip file

It doesn’t look like that log is from when you actually were running a job that stopped.
Sorry if that was not clear, I need a log capture that was from when a job you tried stopped in the middle of the run.
All this log shows is attempting to connect to your machine.

I am having the same issue with my Lasermatic 20 W all of a sudden. Never had an issue until this latest version. How do i fix it.

You can always download the old version: Release 1.4.05 · LightBurnSoftware/deployment · GitHub

We’re looking into it but I still need logs from @Bulldog showing the error happen, as we cannot locally reproduce the issue.

@adammhaile
This is going to require a LOT of time as this only happens about 1 out 8 times
To do a Debug each and every time hoping to “catch it”
Meanwhile when it does I lose an engrave _Coaster _tile _business Card _Coin($7 each)
It has never happened with 1.4.05
And I cant afford to lose more jobs with this intermittent issue

fancy seeing you here! :slight_smile:
Will see if i can replicate on diode

@Bulldog I 100% understand. Hopefully we can capture it happening some other way, I’m just stuck at the moment until I have a way to actually reproduce the issue locally. But we’ll keep at it.

Assuming that Nicky could spare some time, could it be possible that the behavior could be replicable without full laser power.

I often asked users to run tests at 1% to save materials but still diagnose behavior
Could this be a possibility?

Granted, this will not help in what regards time/randomness side of the issue

@gilaraujo Hey hows things
yes with 1.5.1 Fiber intermittently stops about 1 out of 8
No issues at all with 1.4.05

It’s possible? You never know what the key to it is… I’ve run his file about 30 times at this point without issue. So it’s tough to even guess.

@adammhaile Thank You

Same issue on a 60w fiber. (DTC Laser from Debin Lee) I’m simply adding a small logo to 500 stone cutting boards. Machine will stop and say its framing but nothing happening. Its a 40 second program. 3 quick passes on a small vector. I had the same issue during some deep engraves with 3D Slice.

I reboot laser and LB to continue, sometimes the laptop too… I did not revert to an earlier version. I thought I may have damaged the USB cord and it needed replacement.

Now I have gone back to version 1.4.05. Still having intermittent laser firing. Wanted to upload a video of what the laser is doing but I do not see a way to attach anything. I have been unable to create a post since I am new.

Thanks
Larry

I’ve bumped your member privileges a level, you should be able to post images now.

I was going to upload a short video. But it says file not supported. I took video with my phone.

This is what it is supposed to look like

A fiber 60 watt can not reproduce results on wood
Somewhat if wood is coated
The 1064nm wavelength of a fiber laser transmits partially through organic structures (like wood) based on its shorter wavelength. However, when the beam travels into wood, its absorption can’t be controlled. This reaction is caused by variances in the wood material. Heat builds up, and eventually the wood will ignite.
The laser Fluence and wavelength are such it marks a bit or burns or does nothing
General consensus in fiber community is NOT to engrave wood as it poses an extreme fire hazard

Same issue on 1.5.04. Two long running 3D image engravings stopped at random times yesterday and today. I started up another job before seeing this post about enabling logging. I will enable on next job. I did not have this issue on 1.4.05.

I had one engraving that worked this morning on 1.5.04. The settings for it were 0.050 Line Interval with 256 passes, completed in 40:11. Yesterday’s and this morning’s other failure were when I tried to go to 0.025 Line Interval and 512 passes. Power and Speed were the same as well as the other settings.

LightBurnLogz.txt (2.4 MB)

It’s a zip of the latest failure.
