With LB 1.5.1 Fiber laser intermittently stops

@billskeen Yes The same with my 60 watt MOPA
It happens about 1 out 8 or 10 times even with 1.5.04
So I,m sticking with 1.4.05 for now

I have already saved all my files using 1.5.04. Can I just install the 1.4.05 version and they still open?

Mine do
But it gives you a warning

I’ve been running the new 1.7 beta since it came out and all day today, no issues…

Unless that’s the problem with my artwork… :crazy_face:

:smile_cat:

I am now fairly certain that this is NOT a LightBurn issue. The main reason is Robert Brand, who I got the file from, is using the same version and has no issues. The second reason is I moved to a new USB port on the laptop and the current test has completed 45% without an issue. The first time this far along. What is also different is my Air Assist is off, so I am not getting any electrical noise and/or machine vibrations being generated from my 5HP air compressor. I am going to repeat the current test with 60% power and Air Assist on to see if it happens again. Those types I issues I can fix.
Thanks to everyone who contributed suggestions. I will update this post when I make the final root cause determination.

Latest test failed at about 11% with Air Assist on. An interesting note was that the air compressor had not run for several minutes prior to failure. Going to repeat the test using the last settings without air assist.

I have a LB log file but it is too big to upload here.

A 5hp compressor seems overkill, but I like your moxy.

Air assist can cause static buildup in some situations.

@billskeen What Laser are you running
My 60 watt MOPA and Laptop are on a UPS that is on its own circuit
The Fiber Machine is also properly grounded to the work area and controller Box thus preventing any static build up and or discharge
The air Extraction and air assist(high volume aquarium pump) are on a different circuit
The metal tubing on my air extraction is also Grounded

I use a high quality USB cable that has a ferrite core on it
The 24 VDC power cable to Laptop also has a ferrite core on it
Using a compressor for air assist will cause issues with static/voltage drops/vibration

@Colin
I have a CNC mill as well as other air tools. Thanks for your input.

Last test failed with air assist off and air compressor not running at all. Going back to 1.4.05 version to run test again.

I am starting ( or more accurately, suspecting) the laptop again.

Does not appear to be Lightburn related issue. I have Wireshark with a USB packet capture utility installed. I am going to try one more time using this laptop to see if I can capture the root cause.

@Bulldog

100W JPT MOPA M7 Fiber Laser.

I setup a UPS this morning before I started testing. I also moved to a power outlet on the other side of the shop. The Air Compressor is on its own circuit breaker.

Both the laptop brick and the USB cable have the ferrite cores on them.

Replaced old laptop with a newer one that had 32GB RAM, newer USB ports and Windows 11. Problem solved.
