Won't frame and only engraves 1 part

I made a grid for a spoil board and it won’t frame. When I hit start it only engraves the x axis 50 and nothing else.

What does Preview show. It looks like some parts of the design are outside the workspace.

Is it only this grid that you’re having an issue with or is the laser new to you?

Try switching to “Absolute Coords” for the Start From mode in Laser window. Does that change the behavior?

Only this grid. I have had my laser for a coupe of months but still trying to learn Lightburn. What do I have the Absolute co-ordinates set at?

You are currently set to “Current Position”. I’m suggesting changing that to Absolute Coords.

I am engraving something atm but will try that when this job finishes. Will I be able to have the grid go from 0,0 as I am wanting to engrave the actual size of my bed.

Have it set to Absolute co-ordinates, still nothing.

Can you describe in detail what exactly happens when you push start?

Also, can you run these commands in the Console window one at a time and then return all the output from that window?

$H
$$
$#
?

The first command will home the laser so be prepared for it.

Also, can you upload the .lbrn file that you’re using for review?

I had the grid redone but it still won’t frame it. When I hit start it movesto correct position and engraves the first vertical 50, 100, 150 and the first 3 vertical lines and then stopped. I restarted it and then only engraved the first vertical and nothing else. $$ commands (I won’t use the $ signs as I a having to type it out):

I don’t see anything obvious in your setup that would cause the issue you’re describing. I do see a slightly strange offset configured for your laser.

Have you ever issued a “G92” command intentionally?

If not, can you run this in Console and return the full output?

G92.1
?

Try rehoming and rerunning the grid. What happens? Can you capture any output in Console when that occurs?

It is only this file this is happening with, all other files are engraving properly.

I don’t understand coding at all, so no I have never run G92.1. I rehomed and rerun the grid. Still won’t frame, so I hit start. Again it only engraved the vertical 50, 100, 150and the first 3 vertical lines.
G92.1
Restart
Restart 2
Restart 3

That’s fine. In any case the offset is now removed so that’s one less potential issue.

The screenshot now indicates a very clear alarm situation. It indicates that the controller believes that the job is asking the controller to go beyond the dimensions of your laser.

Please confirm the following:

  1. What is the actual working area of your laser? Your GRBL configuration indicates an area of 651x501 mm.
  2. Can you take a screenshot of Edit->Device Settings
  3. Can you take a full screenshot of LightBurn with the design loaded and ready to burn? Please have the Laser window showing in the screenshot
  4. Can you save the gcode by going to File->Save gcode, then save to a file with a .txt extension, then upload that file here.

I just noticed a potential issue with your design.

It seems to be hanging out from the edge of the workspace. This would cause a potential issue.

Try this:

  1. select all on the workspace
  2. click the lower-left dot in the 9-dot selection in numeric edits
  3. enter 0 for both XPos and YPos
  4. retest burn

Did that. Still won’t frame and only engraved the first nuber 50 and then stopped. I looked up work area - 650 x 500.

Changed the size of the grid. Still won’t frame. Only engraved the first vertical 50 and 1 vertical line.

Ok have no idea what I did, I didn’t do anything more since that last screen shot when it would only engrave the first vertical 50 and line. Decided to rerun it, still won’t frame but it is engraving the whole thing.
