Pete the inside frame is actually 2 ‘L’ parts so,only two corners need to match up ![]()
After experimenting with the frame this was most productive to build and match up.
That is really cool logic. Dare I ask, if two sides..why not four.
good question… with a full four sides the inside material ends up being scrap of at least small pieces to be used for other stuff, but making ‘L’ shapes, then can be stacked next to each other in quantity thus optimizing the material on the sheet less waste.
A full cut would be best for assembly one at a time but I usually make 6 frames at a time so I waste less material… ![]()
Thought I’d share this, Lesson learned..
Today I was cutting the wood for Jack Sparrow, above…
the cuts were really coming out ragged…
Checked the focus distance 11mm was good…
still was not looking clean cutting…
Finally realized the turn screw that holds my Lens tube secure had loosened up and the lens tube was dropping down a couple mm and throwing my focal point all over the place…
the external air hose was holding it in place letting it settle just a few mm and wobble up and down ..
pushed the tube up to the secure point, Tightened the holding screw and all was cutting clean again…
Lessons learned, maintenance !..![]()
Cat Abstract 20 x 28 7 layers 2mm UV Printed Basswood
Acrylic Case
I’ve had a lot of request for this cat so decided to make a large version… ![]()
Very impressive with all the layers, nice work again. However, I wonder if a black frame would be more effective, the pattern from the wooden frame “doesn’t fit” the many layers of the cat, - purely subjective from my point of view and not meant as a criticism.
Always appreciate the feedback…
I do the Front woodgrain, because of the 6 smaller units I have sold it was this woodgrain that they liked…
I tried some different colors but it was not received well by the Florida folks ![]()
I tried a dark wood boarder but it make it look cheap…
Oh well… give the folks what they want ![]()
but thanks for the input, always good ![]()
The cat is really a great mix of complex and easy on the eye. Like Bernd, I too initially thought “Black frame” but around and with the wood grain but then also a number of variants came to mind.
Taking some inspiration from the mobile phone industry.could such works be offered with optional frames and top layer colours.
Great finish quality and detail in the images.
Green Lady 20" X 20" Black Acrylic 3mm Frame
Made this for my wife, she love old world and her fav color is green
win win..
I can see how your machine purchase got approved ![]()
Made a new style Frame…
Three Layers Back 2mm , Picture layer 3mm, Frame Layer 3mm
The frame is two ‘L’ pieces and the alignment is exact so there are no odd fitting issues…
Much easier to assemble and glue…
did Round and Square corner styles.. ( the square corners have a 1mm rounded edge…)
(PS: I have a stack of Laser cut wood pictures coming again, work has had me jumping so a little slow getting more out…)
