Xtool d1 update 1.1 laser move abnormally fast when tabs are on update 3/6/22

2 days ago I was able to make an 8 sheet R2-D2 being able to cut with tabs the first try each sheet

Yesterday morning after updating lightburn I went to cut a different model with tabs and I set it up with the same settings. And I wasn’t able to pop the pieces out


I was frustrated so I gave up for the night. Today march 5th i went to testing for cuts with tabs it was jumpy when it was cutting with tabs. I would upload a video but it won’t allow me
I ran a second test without tabs and it ran perfect no jumps consistent movement speed. The right is with tabs and the left is without all tabs are set at .1mm and 4 tabs per shape each box is at a different speed setting

I attempted to revert to the previous version of lightburn and the problem continued. Can someone please help. I apologize for posting the same issue on a different thread but this one explains my situation better

Update if I keep the speed under 350mm/min it doesn’t jump.

This is after 1 pass 500mm/min no constant power 25% power tabs are on .1mm automatic 50.0 spacing

I downloaded the 1.1.01 patch and the problem is still happening. I tried putting the tab power on 1 and the laser speed on 1000mm/min and the head stayed a consistent speed but it didn’t leave any tabs. Does anyone from lightburn have any ideas on how to fix this problem. I will not be able to make clean 3d wood models without this being fixed. I do not have the air assist for the xtool d1

What isn’t jumping?

I’m not going to ask for your woodworking art files but if you could share the test file with the squares somebody here may be able to figure out what’s going on.

so to explain the problem better between 2000mm/min and 360mm/min when i am cutting with tabs on. the laser will cut the until the tab the laser will pulse like it is ment to for a tab and when the laser fires again it is at a higher speed then before the tab. when the laser gets to the next edge, it reprats the process here is a picture of this program. if your were to run extra passes it would cut through like the above pictures

0.1 mm tab size is pretty small - it’s .004" you might want to be about double the dot size or kerf of your cut.

I’ve exported the GCode of your file and there is nothing strange in here at all - it’s very simple G1 and G0 moves. It’s possible that the D1 is reverting back to rapid rate when a G0 move is issued - we’ve seen all kinds of flawed versions of GRBL firmware from various vendors, so it wouldn’t surprise me.

I’ll ask the XTool folks if they can verify this.

You said in the title that the laser is moving abnormally fast.

One of the things that can happen during an update is a loss of some of the settings. Can you open the Cuts/Layers window and confirm that it’s still requesting the cut in mm/min?

After you confirm those units, please open the Settings window. It’s under Edit - then wheel down to the Settings (gears icon) and click that. Make sure this is in mm/minute as well.

12000 mm/min travel speeds for x, y & z seem kind of fast for some of the devices i’ve worked with. I would try to engrave a square 1200 mm on a side (on a wasteboard at super-low power) and time it with a stopwatch to see if a tenth of a minute (6 seconds) is reasonably close for one of the sides. I suspect that 6000mm/min and 12 seconds would be realistic but i haven’t measured an Xtool d1 yet.

$120 is an acceleration for the x-axis and $121 is an acceleration for the y-axis. I don’t often find them this disparate in the wild. My Bachin Maker has a similar X-Y axis set up and mine shows 500mm/s^2 for both of those.


I ran 1 square 131x131mm at 1200mm/min and it took 4.6sec to run the bottom line of the square

In the Console window, there’s a switch on the right hand side that says “Show all”. Please click that and when it’s green run this test square again. That will report all the G-code. I don’t think it’ll be a ton of lines. Please copy and paste that report into a reply here.
