xTools D1 Pro - Laser Offset settings - 40w

I just got the xtools d1 pro 40w kit and I can’t figure out good offset settings for the laser offset. It seems like no matter what I set it to it’s off, and isn’t consistent. The default setting is x-16mm,y0, but it should be something like x0mm,y-26mm. I set it to that, but it’s still offsetting something around x-10. I’m kind of baffled at this point. Everything works fine in xTool’s software.

Any ideas?

xTool website indicates that the value should be Y-21 for the 40W module.
Set the Laser Positioning Offset – xTool

This is odd. It should be perfectly consistent. If it’s not that could imply a mechanical issue. Make sure that belt tension is proper. Also check that pinion gear is not slipping on the stepper shaft. Do burns otherwise look correct in spite of the offset issue?

Try this:

  1. disable the pointer offset
  2. move the laser module to the middle of the bed and place a sacrificial material below the module
  3. using Fire button make a mark onto the material
  4. move the laser module 21 mm up.
  5. check proximity of the crosshairs to the burned mark
  6. if crosshairs and mark don’t match, adjust the position of the laser module while keeping track of relative distance movement until they match.
  7. take the final net direction to the right and up, so let’s say 0mm to the right, and 23mm up.
  8. negate these values and put then in the pointer off. so X=0mm Y=-23mm

Thank you so much for that article, I couldn’t find that information anywhere.

It seems to be fine in xTool’s program, so I’m not sure.

I’ll try some testing today when I get a moment. Your testing procedure seems like a good one, I’ll give it a try.

Update: With the proper offset and some fiddling with the origin point, I think it’s all good now.
