Y axis not working correctly

My rotary does not seem to be working.I have an OMTech Model: SH-G475 SKU: USB-7B47-US. The rotary hooked up to the Y-axis just started grinding and not turning. Replaced the stepper motor on the rotary work for a little bit and started doing the same thing. Rewired the Y-Axis and it is still doing it. At first the Y axis without the rotary mode enabled still worked. Now it is failing as well. Any suggestions?

Usually what you describe with steppers is either incorrect wiring or a loose wire. If it worked and then quit I would lean towards loose wire. If it quit working right after switching I would lean towards incorrect wiring. Only 4 wires to mess with either way. Good Luck!

The rotary should have come with a straight and a cross-over patch cable. The cross-over would have the two inner wires switched,

Make your Yaxis cable match the Xaxis cable. Then fabricate a patch cable to correct the wiring. Another option it to cross-over the wires at the stepper motor end of the rotary cable (this is where you should have made the switch).

Another option is to purchase, or fabricate like mine, a Yaxis / Rotary switch.
