BSL boards / SeaCAD support in Lightburn

Update!
I got the ezcad board yesterday and did the replacement today.
Except for the different hole locations, everything turns out to be compatible, so I plugged everything in and as I turned it on and connected it to the pc it was immediately recognized.
Very satisfied, I immediately upgraded my license with Lightburn (finally), reinstalled Lightburn including the ezcad drivers and finally the program sees the laser.
there is one problem though!
the program after a few minutes disconnects from the laser and gives this message:
“Error encountered - diconnected”
i don’t know if it depends on the driver, but i don’t think so because i installed from lightburn,
or if it depends on the settings imported from ezcad which was not from the file arrived with the machine…
it is late now; I will try again tomorrow!

I’ll offer a virtual beer to everyone who helped me!  :joy: :joy:

I have had little problems. The one I did solve were the poor usb type B on the machines cabinet…

Cloud Rays hasn’t blessed me to open the machine, so I’m not going to until the warranty expires. Anytime I have usb issues re-seating it seems to help.

Wish I had the cure… when I do open it I will look into changing that port hardware out. The usb output is from the control board, so I don’t know what it takes…

Good luck

From cloudray i ordered the board they recommended to replace the one i had.
it is a BJJCZ model FBLI-B-LV4

At this point I bought a new upgrade to license Galvo.

When I installed it, the computer immediately found and configured it.
then i configured with new installation and drivers also lightburn
and here, everything ok.

problems;

  1. ezcad2 never found the laser for me, it starts in demo always both with ciretti drivers and with drivers from lightburn

  2. light burn sees the laser, does the frame but if I turn on the third key(laser) it goes to connection error with the following message “ERROR ENCOUNTERED - DISCONNECTED”

I tried everything, replacing drivers, varying in the configuration the markcfg7 file, but nothing! I can’t get it to work properly!
Please, do you have an idea how I can do?

What happens if you do not turn on the third Key?

If this is a hard-wired switch that sends a signal to a single-bit on a control board the input could be expecting different behavior.

first switch turns on board,
second switch turns on galvo
third switch turns the laser

If I do not turn on the third switch, with only sw1 and sw2 on, lightburn has the connection, it frames an object.

if I immediately turn on the third switch (laser) lightburn goes into error “ERROR ENCOUNTERED - DISCONNECTED”.
I can’t understand the nature of this error; the drivers seem to be correct as well as the installation procedure…
I don’t know what to do anymore!

It’s probably not a driver issue… My fiber has control board power and the laser/galvo power is handled by a single switch…

Have you used this with any other software, such as EZCad2? I know that’s a bummer, even worse when you have no Windows machine…

I have no other suggestions as it sounding more like a control board → (laser) source communication error.

EZCad and Lightburn require different drivers on windows I understand.

Good luck

I have windows 11 installed.
as soon as the board was installed and before configuring lightburn I tried several ways to run ezcad2 but it always went to demo… but I gave up because my goal was to use lightburn

but yes, Lightburn and ezcad use different driver; I have tried both.

I compared the connectors of the two boards more closely and only on one (CON4) did I find different initials between one connector and the other.
CON1 and CON2 are perfectly identical

in the picture below in black is the ezcad board in red the SeaCAD board

Did this work OK using EZCad3 and the original board?

It sounds like there is an issue with the connection from the control board to the source.

When you power up the source, the control board has some kind of an issue…

If you bought it from Cloud Ray site and not the Amazon or other retail site, you can go to their site and ask for their help… Might help, at least you can start an inquiry. They may know about this…

If you got it from the Cloud Ray, that isn’t their regular site, then I’d shoot an email to them.

:smile_cat:

Yes, I bought directly from Cloudray.
I wrote them an email yesterday, but I still have no reply.
thanks for the advice!

no, originally the board is a seaCAD so no ezcad3…
but with its software (BSLCAD) it worked.
I have already written to Cloudray…
Let’s see what they say when they reply

I installed my board today and got it set up in Lightburn. I’m messing with it and can’t get it to do a frame. I hear the laser making the clicking noise like it would be framing, but I don’t see any actual laser output.

If I set the laser to mark mode- it does actually operate the laser. I can see it engraving.

Edit: I uninstalled the lightburn galvo driver, installed the ezcad driver, opened ezcad, did a test, then uninstalled ezcad driver and reinstalled lightburn driver and it seems to be good! I also imported my EZCad Config which helped a lot.

Edit 2: It seems like lightburn’s max laser power isn’t my full power. I’m getting much lighter engravings on the same parts and settings (at least the ones that were available in SeaCAD before I swapped the board)

These are my settings in SeaCAD which provide a very nice marking in 1 pass on Aluminum.

Here are my Lightburn settings:

Changing laser type to IPG_YLPM as described in this thread seems to help a lot, but its still probably only 30% or so of what I get with SeaCAD. Interestingly, it is a RAYCUS board.

7pm update…
Been fine tuning it and its working pretty good now, I’d say about 85% for a solid object. However when I try and do things that are more complex the results are inconstent.

Thank you for your support and help.
I have solved the problem.
I thought it was a hardware cause instead it was because of the drivers.
For my new EZCAD board model FBLI-B-LV 4 that I installed instead of the one I had before (seacad).
you need very specific drivers.
I searched a thousand sites and many forums on the net until I figured out exactly where the problem was. I found the right drivers, installed them and used the right version of EZCAD2.
When I finally got EZCAD2 working properly, I went to install Lightburn with the drivers and finally LIGHTBURN WORKS!!!
I am very happy to have achieved the desired result!!!

I apologize to the admins and to all of you for so many posts.
I remain available to anyone who needs help on this experience.

Many, many many THANKS for all!!!

have a good life!

Sure dear Jack,
FBLI-B-LV 4 need a perfect diver for her (lite) and also i an accurate version of ezcad2! not all of them fit!
Sorry to cite an external forum, but that’s where I found my solution

That is fine, if it’s gets someone up and running, that the main interest.

Thanks for the effort.

I write VZJet all the time and encourage and then yell at them to work with LB to get support. and do the same with Atomstack to get them to get the SeaCad programmers to work with LB.Not sure if its the right people or not but I feel good for a short time after doing it.

Cor files work now? Im trying to apply seacad cor file in lb, but dialog box dosnt show new field.

cor120.cor (84,1 КБ)

Once you load a cor file all of these grayed out fields cannot be modified by the user. They are used to setup your lenses, which you did to create the cor file.

:smile_cat:

Then i apply corfile field must be automatically set field to 120mm or near 120mm. With ezcad 3x3p corefiles lightburn work correctly. I use 5x5 or 64x64 point correction(if needed).
