Help my Laser is Limited to 20% Max Power …. and I cannot change it

Hello,

I am using a CommMarker Omni laser with LightBurn. The laser works in general, but the maximum laser power is limited to 20% in the software, regardless of where I try to adjust it (e.g., in the layer settings).

The following issues occur:
1. The option to adjust the maximum laser power is grayed out and cannot be clicked in all relevant areas (e.g., device settings, layer settings).
2. The Console in LightBurn is also unavailable, so I cannot send firmware commands like $$ to check or modify the controller settings.

My questions are:
• How can I remove the laser power limitation and set it to 80% or 100%?
• How can I enable the Console to send commands to the controller?
• Could the issue be related to my controller configuration or a restriction in LightBurn?

Thank you for your help!

I don’t think you can set the power on a uv laser. It’s not grbl so there is no console where you can enter grbl commands.

You’d have to wait for someone from Lightburn to confirm this, I don’t have a uv machine.

These types of machines, like my fiber, are pulse machines, not CW like a visible light led, rf or co2 laser.

I managed to resolve part of my issue by using a desktop computer instead of my laptop. I completely reinstalled the LightBurn software, and after that, the laser was automatically recognized. When I opened LightBurn and added the laser, I was able to set the power percentage individually. I successfully set it to 80%.

Following the manufacturer’s instructions, I uploaded and installed the core file, made a few parameter changes, and everything seemed fine. However, after completing these steps, I noticed that in Layer 1, the 80% power setting I had configured was locked again. Additionally, all the other layers defaulted to 20% power, and the settings were locked as well—I couldn’t change them.

Thinking the issue was related to the core file, I deleted it, reverted all the settings, and tried again, but nothing changed. Now I’m back where I started, except that Layer 1 is still set to 80% power. But honestly, that doesn’t solve the issue at hand.

Does anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this or how to fix it?

You don’t set power on a UV laser. (…and It has nothing to do with GRBL or any command set/controller, its just the way they function).

You just set QPulse and Freq. The resulting “%Power” as displayed by Lightburn is meaningless.
