Is it possible to bypass a machines "frame" feature?

I’m having trouble with my Creality Falcon2 “frame” feature. I’ve posted a question about that in the forum before but I continue to struggle with it after 3-months of ownership.

When you’re using this machine via an SD Card it requires that you press the Frame button on the front panel and then the Play button starts the burn. The problem is that framing doesn’t work when Start From is not set to Absolute and the Job Origin set to the bottom left. I most often use Start From Current Position.

I also have a Longer Ray5 and that machine allows you to engrave without framing first. This works absolutely perfectly because I plan my engravings from the origin point.

I’ve updated the machine firmware to the latest version and it’s only made the framing worse (the laser no longer turns on while it frames). The manufacturer isn’t helpful when I inquire about it.

Is there a variable I can set on the machine? Is there a custom firmware I might be able to install? Is there any way to hack my way through this?

For reference, here’s the other thread where I describe the specific problem I’m having with Framing. It gets even worse when I’m using a rotary and the machine seems to have a mind of it’s own (how could it know what direction I have the rotary sitting).

Thanks,
Joel

Hi Joel - at this point the consensus is that Creality’s firmware is restrictive here, and we don’t have a way around it at this point unfortunately. When running via SD card you are obligated to use Absolute positioning + bottom left.

Falcon2 also does not (at this time) support files that are programmed in inches.
