Laser is burning when I use the focus (fire button) and it engraving black (power is not changing)

Hello there, I have the Ortur Laser Master 2 (20w ) since yesterday. I did a couple of tests with Lightburn.
All was working perfectly.

Then my laser stopped halfway through one of my engravings with the message “(MGS restoring spindle)”. Then the problem happened again.

Now I can’t change the power of my laser when I focus, the laser burns the wood directly even if I change the power to 0.25.

If I don’t use the laser focus and burn directly, the laser burns at full power, even if I set a very very low max power. Impossible to have shades for photos, the engraving is only “black”.

Yours isn’t showing the first few settings so pasted mine for you to check through.
I keep these in a folder on my desktop just in case.

I still have the same problem, but thanks Kris1, it’s great to have some help already! :slightly_smiling_face:

Do you get any errors presented in the ‘Console’ window?

The setting you list are not a complete view. That window scrolls so please post again including all that gets spit back after you enter $$, then hit the Enter / Return key.

There are known issues with grounding of the Ortur, covered in the following post which you should be aware of, and worth review.

No errors in the console window.

For more infos from the console windows, I did several steps.

_Launch Lightburn.
_Draw a square inside the working zone
_I’ve moved the laser on the center of the working zone
_Push the “Fire” button for focus my laser (0.10% power).

Then my laser started to burn the wood at max power. I was forced to stop the machine manually (via the reset button), impossible to stop the laser via Lightburn (fire button and the stop button), so it can be very dangerous. The firmware is updated by the way.

So here is the info from this “project”:

THanks about the grounding info. It can be a solution for the fact that my laser has stop a couple of times when engraving. I think I have found the “solution”: Laser stuck on 100% - #9 by DougL

Problem from the mother board

Thank you for providing this update.

Could very well be. Have you reached out to the nice folks at Ortur Support and opened a ticket there? @OrturTech, may have a different suggestion, but I would start there for the hardware troubleshooting.

Yes, ticket opened since yesterday. No reply still. I have a guarantee anyway, I contacted my seller and explained my problem. I am waiting for an answer from him too. I hope to have a new motherboard soon and I will use the grounding way. I think all will be fine… I hope haha

Ortur is going to send me a new motherboard (as expect they told me that the problem is coming from the motherboard) and the grounding kit. They do a great job. :slightly_smiling_face:
