Laser not cutting mirror copies correctly

Hi there, my laser is not cutting mirror copies of objects the same. When I create an object on light burn and then I create the same object but mirrored using the flip vertical or flip horizontal option. I then run the machine and it cuts both out but one will not fit in the cutout slot of the other for some reason. I am making double-sided keychains and I have done this many times on my old machine with no problems and now for some reason I can’t get them to line up. Does anyone have any ideas what I can have a look at?

Thanks very much

Are you applying the proper kerf or any kerf at all?

There is a kerf measurement tool here by @BillieRuben that works great.

It’s hard to tell but as you can see, these are just simple mirror copies but they’re not the same, they’re a mm out maybe but it makes all the difference, any idea why this is happening?

I’d doubt this to be a software issue. I’d ensure you’re belts and any other parts are secure when it operates.

Software is always possible, but from your photo, I’d think a mechanical issue. Most of my time is with galvo or gantry co2 machines. I have a few diode machines, but don’t use them for much anymore.

Maybe @misken can suggest something. :folded_hands:

I agree with @jkwilborn that mechanical should be checked first.
