Laser on during rapid moves

Hi. First time poster.

I run a pretty old K40 with the Avashield V7 controlboard to be able to use the K40 with Lightburn. This is based on FluidNC. It has worked well for the last 6 months. But now it has stated to burn slight marks during rapid moves. (see attached images) The amp meter is showing approx 2ma when traveling from home to start of the job. When the job is finished the laser is turned completely off (0ma) when returning to home.

I have checked all connections and testing shows that it is somehow related to the rapid speed setting.

I have set it to 6000mm/min, but if I change it to 600mm/min the amp meter is only showing approx 1 ma.

I cannot for the life of me figure out what is causing this.

Maybe PSU…but how come it shuts completely off when returning in rapid speed to home after the job is finished?

Is it possible that I have messed up some settings in Lightburn? Any treshold values that my lumpy fingers has bumped into?

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated, as I am not able to use the laser with this issue.

If you have not changed any settings and unchanged designs fail the same way, then the problem is in the hardware.

The high-voltage power supplies used in COâ‚‚ lasers have a failure mode where they ignore their digital inputs. This should not be possible, but it is.

This discussion gives more detail on a K40, although without a clean resolution:

And on a larger machine:

Thank you for the reply. I will check out both threads.
Today I was going to do some more testing…Fired up everything, laptop, laser cooling and air assist.
Same file and setup as I left it saturday and…NO issue!!!

restarted, and rebooted…still no issue!!

I dont get it. Still close to a milliamp, and the slightest faint of purple in the tube (with the lights of), but no burning on the material.

Fingers crossed it will last, although I do not appreciate faults fixing themselves…they tend to reappear.
I will keep you guys posted
