LightBurn v2.0.00-RC3 Release Candidate

I have had many lasers over the years, and they always required an offset with the first laser led/cross hair system, and now with the camera. I have over 21 systems installed with cameras, and they all require an offset, and they are managed and operated by more than 20 different persons. I’m not disagreeing, I’m just saying they all require an offset, and instead of maually having to write down the offset for a given calibration, it woud be nice if the offset is saved when exporting the camera calibration, Thank you Brian

im trying to calibrate a head mounted camera, it does the april tags engraving and trying to move to centre what the camera sees to be centre, to get a camera offset, the jog buttons dont move the laser head. manual method is not working either with jog buttons to get a camera offset as well. so cannot complete the setup from there

I tried rc2 as well and same results

also the preview is not showing corectly the cut files, move is showing

@Rick Regarding Units changing I’m seeing the same thing. Intermittently, it changes the units. I then go into device settings, change the units to something else, save, then go back in and change it to mm/sec, and after a few minutes, it changes the units back to mm/min, whereas I like to use mm/sec.

Thank you for drawing our attention. This “Material library icons not respecting theme colors” has been sorted for the next release.

Going to ask @JediJeremy to offer his feedback on this one.

I have Units set to inches in settings, but layer displays in mm. This is not a problem in 1.7.06. Also UI suggestion, Pause button text on Laser Panel should switch to Resume when the laser is paused.and then back to Pause when operations resume. Windows 10 machine.

I have a file I created in RC2. I opened it in 1.7.06 and got the usual message about being from a newer version. I clicked on through that dialog and then received this message.

I click OK and am not able to edit the text. I can open the text editor dialog and make changes in there but no changes appear on the design.

If I open it in RC2 or RC3 text editing works fine.

This is a “no font found” in the computer error.
Are you opening the file on the same computer?
When the font is missing from the computer, LightBurn will hold the text as a shape, to preserve the designs.
However, it will be locked for editing.

It is on the same computer that it was created on. It is still seen as text otherwise it wouldn’t pull up the text editor, would it? Shapes wouldn’t allow the edit dialog. There are 4 different fonts in this file and none of them respond to edits in the editor.

Edit: ‘.AppleSystemUIFont’ is not a font that shows up in my font list, at least not by that name. I’ll include the file here if it helps.
Custom Orders LED.lbrn2 (219.8 KB)

This is interesting. Thank you for the LBRN let me take a look!

Was able to replicate the behaviour - reporting internally.
It has to do - as far as I can tell - with the font sub system.
Will report back when I know more

Thank you Tim

With the above file in WIN10 and 1.7.06 the shapes are Grouped. After Ungroup I can edit text normally.
Odd thing that happens after opening this file, I select Create Text tool write some random text and the text is invisible. After quitting the tool the text appears. If I retry everything is normal.

This happened 3 other times but only now I was able to find a way to replicate and so I tested.
.
.
In 1.7.06 I get no warnings about the fonts and after I ungroup the text is textimage
, but when I open the file in 2.0.00RC3:

I experience with LB 2.0. RC3 a clear delay in all disk access, such as autosave, save, open and close and use of the libraries. The pause is about 2-3 seconds.
My system : macOS 15.3.1. , LB 2.0 RC3

Bernd this might be a big ask but - do you think you could make a small screen record of these behaviour on RC3 vs 1.7.07 so we can have a visual comparative between both? I am not able to replicate on my Macbook Air M1, or maybe our setups are different.

betasupport@lightburnsoftware.com to send the files please!

I’ve tried that, but when I use the built-in (macOS) video capture, the little colored “pause wheel” is not included in the clip. I have no other way to document the “problem”.

No worries, Bernd; I will try my end to see if I can replicate it on another Mac as well.

I’ll try turning off autosave for a test period and report back with my subjective results.

It is clear that the team has many more people from the backend than the frontend. But that’s good! The most important thing is that the program works well, and fancy effects are secondary.

But! I would consider increasing the padding between icons a little. They are currently too tight. In the laser menu, there is also no padding between the icon and the label. It looks a bit sloppy.

I’m using windows, and the windows camera app allows the zoom function to work. In lightburn the zoom function is not working. Also, there is a sharpness setting in windows, which would be nice to add to the lightburn camera panel, and any functions that the camera does not support should be hidden.

Thanks for the feedback @ahabuda. @Brodie may have additional question, so pinging here.
