@ednisley Correct - pre-release versions require update checks. This is because we’ll have people message us with an issue that we already fixed weeks ago because they are still running an old RC. The only real bug here is that the checkbox in question isn’t disabled entirely when running a pre-release version. The pre-release builds intentionally have as few code changes between full release as possible. Otherwise we might end up with a bug in full release that we never saw because the code only takes that path in full release mode and we never see it.
In this particular case I’d mostly rather just have to deal with occasionally letting the users now that that checkbox does nothing in pre-release. But one of the “costs” of pre-release usage is that you are expected to always be on the latest Beta or RC.
