My Cherokee Beast

I’m glad to hear that, where did you post pics?

here on the forum in finished creations

interesting, I like what you did. :joy:

Well it turns out that the laser is NOT working correctly. It is but it’s not. In the past I had problems with the laser thinking that my working area was only half its size. I went into machine settings, device settings and settings a dozen times, still cannot find anything wrong with my settings. Then I started noticing little things such as - when you draw a square and click to highlight, (change size or shape), you see the your changes on the monitor but the laser doesn’t see anything except the first drawing and it will not frame / cut any of the other layers - then I noticed that I cannot change the power / speed settings in the layers. I do believe that the L.B. program is messed up, bad install I’m sure, my fault I more than likely. How hard can it be, never had problems. I just now looked up my lic. number and I’m going to do a reinstall and see what happens. I hope that does the trick. Will let you know later.

I got my laser fixed and all is working well. I never could get the new version,
(1.7.???) working correctly at all. So I trashed it and installed my modified
version, (0.9.2.4) and now everything works great !! I’m happy. Time to start
ordering material for my evac box. If you remember awhile back I was talking about using pneumatic cylinders to open and close the evac box. Well I got a crazy new idea for opening the evac box. I was looking at a Sterling hit and miss engine and using a drive belt, I could run a little air compressor to open and close the evac box lid. I know, I’m getting pretty stupid with this thing, but what the heck, why not !

A little steamer would do the trick.

That’s an idea. There should be, (I think) a lot less burnt fuel vapors from the fire box than the exhaust fums of an internal combustion engine.

This one will run on a fish pump!

do you mean it will drive/run a fish air pump?

Like perpetual motion?
Runs off a pump powering a pump!

Hello to all ! Thought I would check in with an UD. I bought a couple of cameras a short time back, we talked about them on here. They work great for what I need! I’m not going into details here other than L.B. camera mode won’t work for me. The camera works great using win 10 and I get a full screen. Other than that the Beast is working great. I was going to start ordering material for the evac box but I had a little problem the other night when my wife and I were coming home from town. A giant black yeti was sitting on the center line of the road and that thing was big !!! The road had been resurfaced with black asphalt and you could not see that monster until a fraction of second before being to late and I hit it. Only damage to my wife’s car was the front bumper. So I ordered a new bumper and clip kit today. That thing had to have been at least 35 to 40 gallon size !! (LOL) That thing blew up like a bomb, covered car and road with white styrofoam snow and a county cop saw the whole thing, he was the car coming at me and he saw the bomb blow from maybe 300 feet from me. It was a mess.
When it comes time I would to hire someone on here to 3-d print a part for me to fit the evac box.
Other than a few forums I don’t do social media. One of the fine people on here told me to post on Youtube and link to L.B. so I can show the Beast in action. I think I’ll do that or try anyway. Lets see how that goes.
Thanks – Randy

Sorry I haven’t done an UD yet. Last Friday I learned that I have a black module in my right lung and then Sat. noon I found my husky dead in back yard, died from seizure. I have gotten a lot of new things to get done now. I’ll be back on as soon as I can.

Thank you to all for everything.

Hello to all: I finally got a 90 second video of the Beast in action. Now I have a lot of calibrating to do, as in the z travel, it thinks 4000mm is 4 ins. X & Y have to be calibrated also. There are a couple of spots where nothing happens because I’m slow at getting to the controls. Be sure to turn your sound way down, the fan in the laser roars like a lion !!

Nice! Clean looking build.

thank you Al. I still have a lot of little things to do. Like, redo my cables around the laser head and get them straightened up and supported again !!

I am completely out of room soI would have to build a waterproof beast.

Hi Bernd
I have been looking at these endoscopes. Do they require a ND filter ( I looked at 3.0 & 4.0 for 2w/IR1064 & 8 to 16 for for 450nmdiode).
Also looking for much shorter cable.

Very cool, looks and moves real nice.

No, I don’t think so, I used it “out of the box”, on mine there is a 3m cable. I haven’t had any problems with laser beam reflections either, if they hit the sensor directly I don’t think it will survive, but as I said, I haven’t had any problems in the relatively short time I’ve used this solution. (and it was very cheap)
I wouldn’t rule out that the lens will get dirty quickly with intense use, but as long as the outer glass protection isn’t broken you can just wipe them clean every now and then.
